Ban IP Address from Viewing WP-admin Section

Somebody has been constantly trying to force log into my WordPress. I've been using the plugin "Limit Login Attempts" that after a certain amount of failed login attempts, blocked that IP address from being able to log in for a certain amount of time, and also sends me an email notification of that IP.

I'm not sure who it is but that person has been going at it for over a week.

I've been searching for a plugin that will help, but all of them I've found will ban that IP address completely from viewing my website, when I just want them to be banned from accessing my wp-admin login section.

I need a Wordpress Plugin that will ban them from visitng my wp-admin login section because I don't want them to completely stop being able to view my website.

Any recommendation?

they are trying to hack your site.....why would you not want to ban them from accessing the site........you don't need customers like that!

Uh, yeah, what he said. You have to do whatever you can to ban that person.

Exactly! What do you think you will gain by allowing them to continue to visit your site? They need to go and you can use your Cpanel to ban/blacklist them.

Yes you should get a plugin that protects your wp-admin page. Perhaps if you changed the name in your FTP service then you could at least slow down his attempts to hack your site, and while he is searching you can find a wordpress plugin that does the job. Now, I know I saw one round here somewhere...

  • I agree that the easiest place would be through your cPanel, but you could also add this to your .htaccess file:

    Code:
    #who has access who doesn't
      order allow,deny
      deny from 000.000.000.000
      allow from all
Add the IP in the place provided.
