say the home page of the site was...
www.example.com

it is my first time using kompozer and videos on youtube just confused me even more.

I am using newblue.com for a host if i need to write that somewhere in the pubishing settings.

the main site is using a wordpress blog format if that is important too?
if i am missing anything please tell.

OK, Notepad user here (it's free and on computers already).

    Why not just:

    - copy the source code
    - save it as .html, .htm or .php (whatever your site is using)
    - open it in Notepad, revise it, save it
    - FTP it to your site

sounds good but i do not want the thank you page to show up in the home page, the only way you can get to it is by signing up.

No need to link it all over and show the general public. Just create the page and insert the link in your autoresponder, for when the person subscribes, and / or in the payment button if you are using one (there's an option to list a Thank You page, like with Paypal or other buttons. See their specific tutorials for this).

Could you add your "thank you" page to your Wordpress site and just exclude it from the menu - so visitors can only find it by clicking the link in their email?

Can't answer all questions on this as time doesn't allow, so maybe others will help. On this issue just asked, test it and see, since it just depends upon what settings you are using, and get help here, too:

OK, not bookmarked, so here's to your success!

If you use Kompozer you will create a html file, Wordpress uses php files. You can still upload the html file using an ftp program or file manager in your cpanel and it'll work fine, but you'll need to redirect your visitors to the page (I'm assuming you don't want to create a link for it).

Or you could create the page using Wordpress and protect the page and put the password on the page you redirect them to, or something like that.

I made a site all ready with kompozer and I want to add it to my site this way
    using aweber
once they sign up and click submit
I have aweber redirect them to my custom thank you page. where I have the download now and all.
I want the only way that they can get there is by signing up. no links on my home site.
if i make a new page/post in wordpress...how do I make not visable to everyone else?
and will it change my custom designed thank you page to my theme I have installed on wordpress?

I hope that is more in detail.

  • I believe you asked this same question in another thread yesterday, and you're still making it way too complicated:

There is no need to hide it at all (or password-protect it) if you upload it as thankyou.html It won't show up on Wordpress unless you set it up IN wordpress as a page or a post. Don't do that. Create a separate html page and upload it. Then simply link directly to the html page from Aweber.

If you're worried about people sharing the link, you can always password-protect the page itself, but in all likelihood that's going to get shared, too.

Okay, that makes more sense now.

When you created the thank you page in Kompozer, did you save it as an .html file?

I don't use Kompozer, but most HTML editors have an upload feature. If not, you can use either your cPanel (if your host offers that), or an FTP program like Filezilla. For one page, it would probably be much easier to use your cPanel, if that's an option. It would only take a few seconds.

[EDIT] If you're still having problems, hit me up on one of the chat clients to the left that I have listed. I'm online now. It would be probably go a lot quicker if you could ask questions as you go along in real-time.

I do not have much experience with wordpress, but I know that sometimes pictures and text will not show up right if they are not saved in the same file.

You can have the Thank You page not connected to the original site by just not adding a link for it on your home page. My thank you page is just the site name /thankyou.html. The only way people get to the page is when I send them to it through a link.

yes the kompozer has a upload/pubish feature and it saves as an .html file.
how do i upload it using my cPanel what do I have to Click on?

how do i password protect it as well?
and will the password come up if aweber sends them to the page?
I want that not to happen.

Use File Manager to get inside whatever directory you need.

Once inside, look at the row of buttons on top. On mine, the 5th one says Upload. Click it.

Next page that comes up, browse for the hmtl file. Upload, and that's it.

If the page is password-protected, it will ALWAYS ask for the password, even when redirecting from Aweber.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about password-protecting it, because no one will know it's there unless a member gave them the url, in which case they would give them the password, anyway. Or, they would just send them the ebooks and video directly.

Ok, great. I'm confused that you don't know the web address, though. Did you put it in the domain folder that your WP site is in? Or did you put it in the /public_html/ folder?

If you put it in the same folder as your WP files, then:

      hxxp://yourWPdomainname.com/thankyou.html

You probably need to upload the images to the same directory you placed the html page. Or if it's still not showing after uploading them you might try recreating the html page. Create a folder, save the html page and images to the folder, open the html page in Kompozer and add the images. Then upload everything in the folder and overwrite the existing html page.

Or just use a full url - http://yoursite.com/image.jpg or whatever file extension you're using in the page source code (make sure the url is working first).

Many people, even if they wanted to help you, got confused by your "liberal" usage of the terms page, file and site.

Everything that is up on a domain (example. com), even if it has 1001 pages = it's one site.
Every individual web page, like example.com/another-page.html - is a web page and, when coded a HTML file.

You have a website - seemingly created and powered by WP.
You want to upload a .html file to create a separate (web)page.

Kompozer is just one of the possible html editors. You create the html file with any of them. After having it saved with any name you choose + .html (extension), you upload the file where you want it to live.

If in the root (e.g. public_html) it will be at
    example.com/your-page-name.html

For your own benefit you should learn how to use a FTP client (software). FTP - file transfer protocol, it helps you move files between your own hard drive and the server of your host.
Free: Filezilla. Check out Youtube, there are dozens of tutorials for it.

  • I'm pretty sure he finally got it. We went private to speed things up, then I didn't hear from him anymore, so I can only assume that he got it working. I guess he should put [RESOLVED] in the thread title now.

Good to see you back, Istvan. We missed you, buddy.
