Newb Needs Some Help!

Hi Everyone,
I have just started out my IM venture. Hopefully, I will be able to make some extra money in a few months from now. I have a couple sites monetized them with adsense and amazon's. Beside submitting articles to some article directories, what else should I do to promote those sites, preferably free methods? Any help or suggestion is much appreciated.

I would make sure you have the social media plugins or share buttons, I take it they are set up on word press? Also go to forums and create signatures (I notice you dont have one) linked back to your blogs, if its IM niche then there's no place like warrior forum. Actively participate in discussions and give real value when answering questions or giving tips etc.

If you do this consistently everyday you will see this TARGETED traffic build up over time. Depending on how much time you can commit daily, stick to it.

Hope that helps you out buddy.

    Take it easy,
    Hamed

Your sites are hungry with targeted visitors because they’re willing to make money for you. This means nothing more than you must keep your full attention to drive more and more targeted visitors. You’ve two choices such as paid traffic and free traffic. This is the time you’ve to start working hard or spending money. What’s your choice?

That's hardly helpful is it? The Newbie Warrior's looking for advice, not waffle.

His/her sites are NOT hungry with targetted visitors (not even good English), he's going to have to attract them.

Paid traffic and free traffic . . . AND? This doesn't help.

Say something useful, or don't say anything at all.

    Hi YB

I need a bit more information to help.

    1. When you say you have a couple of sites, are these blog sites?
    2. If you've monetized with Google Adsense and Amazon Associates, are you using: Blogger, Wordpress.com (hosted) or Wordpress.org (self hosted)?

If you're using hosted sites, there is no simple further way to monetize them, as affiliate links are not permitted. Ensure you get the maximum benefit with AdSense, as you can place up to 3 AdSense panels on your site, coding each one slightly differently (but relevant to your subject).

As socialmassmedia suggested, add share/like buttons for Facebook and Twitter at the very least, and visit the Warrior Forum regularly. Even if you feel you don't know much yet, you can increase your posts by joining threads and leaving relevant comments/advice. Don't spam, and use the Thanks button if you can't add to the conversation. This will help get you to a point where you can send Personal Messages, and add your site to your profile. This will build your reputation here.

Ah yes, while I think of it - Spend some time completing your profile at WF, including Facebook, Twitter, and any other ways to communicate. This is very important, and will help more people connect, share and visit your site when you reach the magic numbers (see Newbie Information).

You can often visit Warriors' sites by clicking on their name, and selecting 'Visit xxxx's Homepage', take a look.

    3. If you're using a self hosted blog, such as Wordpress.ORG, this is just the beginning.

If you're interested, look at the subject of my main site below. I notice you said, " . . . preferably free". Well, that's my job! pay me a visit, mooch around a while and leave a comment or two. Could be the start of a beautiful and fruitful friendship.

If you let us know the answers to the questions above, I'm sure more help will come flooding.

    Cheers

    Alan

Before you just start promoting the sites you must know who you are going to promote to.

Obviously that depends on what your sites are about but often people start a site and then wonder who they can get to it. That is sort of backwards.

You need to discover what sort of people would be interested in your product. Where do they hang out? What do they talk about? What gets up their nose? What their problems?

It is only after you know this will you be able to tailor your site to fit with their needs.

Just trying to get 1000's of clicks on your website wont matter if once they get there, the site just doesn't resonate with them and they hit the back button or close the tab on the browser.

If you are using free methods (and even if you aren't) the big G will notice that visitors are not staying very long if they don't connect with what is on your site. That means all your efforts to get back links will be hurt. Your traffic will actually start to damage your rankings in Google.

If you don't know exactly what people you are after and what they want you can't design your site and put relevant content on it. When that is the case, lots of traffic wont lead to conversions.

There are lots of ways to drive traffic but you would be well advised to spend some time looking on forums, checking on Quantcast, reading Facebook pages to find out exactly what this group of people want and then give it to them.

Maybe this isn't what you want to hear but if you always bear this in mind your sites will be more responsive to the traffic you do get and you will be more successful.

Get a facebook fan page up and running for each of your sites.

Get a squidoo page up as well, we started this last year and are seeing consistent daily visitors to our sites.

Also target people on twitter that are interested in your topic/niche.

  • Hi Yellowball. You should know where your target audience regularly hangs out online, at this point, since you must've pinpointed their specific needs and problems about your chosen subject areas. You should've done this before you developed your own products or chose affiliate products, free digital info product that can lure your viewers into signing up to your mailing list and your onsite content, as mentioned earlier...

Where do they frequently hang out on the Internet? Web forums? Video directories like YouTube? Online social networks like Facebook and Twitter? Voice and text chat sites? News sites?

What will they consider beneficial content contributions in those online places they frequently go to? Tips? Expert advice? Techniques? Strategies? Updated info?

What type of content do they prefer to view and use? Academic articles? Conversational articles? More personal write-ups? Videos? Ebooks? Audio books? Photos and images? Software?

What visual layout and navigability features of a website will they consider aesthetically pleasing and convenient to browse? What type of onsite content will they see as more beneficial for their relevant needs and problems? What tone/style will they consider entertaining and compelling? What free offer, such as a free ebook, will they be expected to immediately obtain? Which products will they more than willingly buy?

I recommend answering those questions first, before developing business backend systems, implementing website development, doing graphics design, starting product development projects, doing onsite content development and launching Internet marketing campaigns...

    Hi Yellowball

The best way to start making some cash is to learn all you can about marketing, get yourself on a free course. It will be worth it in the end. I see so many people posting questions on how to get started in making money.

Find yourself a good sponsor who can point you in the right direction.
Take you time and learn as much as you can, and the pennies will start to roll in.

    To you success

I really appreciate everyone's help and suggestion. Well, my blogs is created by Wordpress and I have a hosting service with Justhost. My blogs are about toys sold on Amazon. The info on the blogs contents the promoted product's information and a short review on that product. I have 3 adsense text+picture ads and a sidebar amazon widget. I have been able to make a dollar or two from two blogs in the last 3 weeks from adsense which is nothing compared to what people are making in a day with adsense. I know the blogs need lots of promotion in order to get traffic. I mainly want to know that how do I go about doing backlink for those blogs so they can get better ranking. Also, where or how should I do social bookmarking? promoting them via article seems like it will take forever to get traffic and writing takes lots of time. Outsourcing right now is not within the budget. So any tips are much appreciated.

      Hi,
If the blog has multiple posts or pages, then each post/ page can be bookmarked to get more backlinks. What do I do if my blog has only one long post on one page only? I can not really do bookmarking on that same page over and over as it will be a spam thing. Any suggestion on this? Thanks!

Getting more backlinks form different bookmarking (or any) sites is more beneficial for SEO than getting more backlinks form single bookmarking (or any) site.

Join with more sites (high PR) like articles directories, bookmarking sites, social networks, authority sites........... and get backlinks.

Don't spam for more backlinks, It's useless.
