    I've definitely gotten messages that seem like they're automated. I've heard good things about Twitter Adder, I don't know if it does that though. One of my sites is selling scheduled tweets to my followers, but not automated messages, I think that's against the rules. Just copy and paste when you get a follower.

      I use SocialOomph.com. You can set it to send a welcome message to new followers and you can also set up rotating messages so you can vary the message.

      You can also set it to automatically follow people who follow you or wait 3 days to give you time to check whether you want to follow them.

      There are lots of other things it can do and there's a pro version as well.
