Just being wondering what people would be doing to make $2000 from total scratch...

Starting from scratch is pretty tough. Any decent business usually requires at least a little start up capital for domain, hosting, website, products, sales letters, advertising etc. Starting with nothing is a hard road to haul. I would concentrate on building up at least a little capital first before expecting anything in return.

You can sell one thing that costs a dollar. Do that 2,000 times.

If I started again from scratch, I'd get free hosting somewhere like byethost.com, beg borrow or steal $1 from someone to buy a suitable .info domain-name at GoDaddy (or $3 to do it at Namecheap - even better), and set up my own self-hosted Wordpress blog.

I would not use Blogger, Squidoo, or any sites I don't/can't own and control myself. Not even if I were starting without a penny.

Then I'd find a decent-looking, low gravity ClickBank product with a nice, non-leaky sales page free from hype and pop-ups and opt-ins and video and screaming bright red headlines (that part is very time-consuming indeed but enormously worthwhile).

In looking at niches, I would totally reject anything to do with "internet marketing advice" and "making money online".

Then I'd write 1,200-word, controversial, entertaining, provocative, iconoclastic articles about the niche (not the product) and publish them on my blog, wait until they're indexed there and then submit them all to EZA with resource-boxes suitable for others to be willing to syndicate them without removing their resource-boxes.

I'd put more information about the niche and product with my hoplink on my blog. Very prominently.

I'd avoid the mistake of "selling" (rather than "pre-selling") on my blog.

Then I'd actively seek out webmasters and ezine/newsletter compilers in the niche and offer them content for backlinks (re-using the same articles again) to get my articles syndicated as widely as possible.

Then I'd look for forums/blogs in the niche where I can comment and get relevant backlinks (not "profile backlinks").

I wouldn't bother looking at or thinking about page-ranks or "no/do-follow" at all.

And as soon as I had another $1 I'd join Aweber and get an opt-in on my site and build a list.

I would not make the mistake of starting off with a "free autoresponder".

And I'd add other ClickBank products in the same niche and keep writing the same sort of articles for syndication. And trying to get them syndicated rather than relying only on EZA for syndication (though that can get you plenty if you really write for syndication).

It's not unlike what I actually did when I finally got my business going (after 3 months' failure and not knowing what I was doing), except I managed to spend $100 on doing it. But it did earn my first $2,000 surprisingly quickly (after 3 months of earning almost nothing before I learned how to do it, and got everything wrong).

It's a method that works only for people able to write the articles - this is the "catch". To "buy in" suitable articles, which will really get widely enough syndicated to be put in front of targeted traffic and successfully do most of your off-page SEO for you, is simply too expensive to be called "from scratch". You can outsource the writing later, when you have money coming in, but it's not cheap and it's not easy, and outsourcing writing successfully requires judgement and learning a new skill-set.

If you find a nice $97 product that pays 75% commission, you have to make only 30 sales to earn $2,000, net of ClickBank deductions. It's nothing at all.

History shows us that there are 2000 x 2000 ways to make $2000 from scratch.

And we get the question all the time:
"Hurry. Quick. I NEED to make $2000 from scratch in 13 days! Somebody help me!"

Really? You NEED to? Or what? What will happen?

Or the IRS will throw you in jail?
Or the mob bookies will clobber you?

Look I'm not saying that there aren't such emergencies where you need $2000 in 13 days, because there are.

But usually when it's life or death (or a least there is that much MEANING to someone), you find a way to get however much money you need. You would walk across a plank stretching between two skyscrapers for $100, but you would do it to save your family.

            So look for the meaning.

And here's another way to look at it.

If you don't absolutely HAVE (need, must) make $2000 in 13 days, then what would you like to do to make $2000 in 13 days for fun? Because you wanted to. How might you make $2000 in 13 days?

So I think it's all about the meaning. And the meaning could dictate that you sell your car, sell your house, sell your hair, I don't know.

Ah, yes, this old "save-the-money" trap.

When I started out, LOL, my first "auto-responder" was my mail client. Then I combined it with some kind of perl script. Next I installed a PHP-script, and then a second, and then a third. I wanted to keep it all on my own server and save money.

The two latter cost me the loss of thousands of subscribers who unsubscribed after having received the same letter 17 times.

THEN I listened! And now I say the same thing to my subscribers: Don't be cheap on this one. Get the real thing at once. Don't wait.

Do you consider an exit popup as just as leaky as a normal one? I ask because I found the perfect product, high priced, high affiliate percentage, low gravity, extremely well-written and informative, within my area of interest, and no popups... or so I thought. The next time I visited the site, I discovered an exit popup (cry).

If it's got an opt-in, yes ... few people buy a ClickBank product at their first visit to the sales page, so most people will see an exit-pop-up. So, if it has an opt-in, for me that's as bad as having it on the sales page itself. :p

If it's just a "discount pop-up", that's not leaky: it just brings the average price down to something very close to the discount price, and is a sign of a vendor (how can I say this without being rude to hundreds of people?) whose judgement I don't altogether trust, myself ...

Most frustrating (if it's an opt-in). But you can write and ask the vendor for an opt-in-free version of the page, which should take him less than a day to arrange. (I have asked 5 times and been successful 4 times, at the latest count!). If they won't produce that, on request, then what are they really telling you?! :p

It is an opt-in, yes Unfortunately.

I wondered if I could write and ask him to give me a link to an opt-in-free version of the page. But I didn't really know if I could ask such a thing. You're right, though. If I ask, I have at least a chance of getting a 'yes'

This is, without a doubt becoming more and more of a problem. I do the following:

              1. Contact the product owner and ask them if their exit pop-up is programmed to retain the relevant affiliate information so that if/when the visitor decides to buy from a follow-up email, I get the credit.

              2. I keep several "throw away" email addresses and use one to fill in the pop-up. I then let the advertiser begin his email sequence and click the buy link in each one of the first 3 mailings. If my CB information appears at the foot of the payment page, the product is worth promoting.

Sadly, I've discovered too many which use this method to cut out affiliates.

Why not provide a service? Go to freelancing sites, fiverr etc and start bidding on projects (article writing, seo services etc). After you win a few contracts you'll have a nice chunk of start up money ready to go.

Then do as Alexa said. Buy a domain/hosting, install a nice looking theme, start posting articles, build a list, market to the list etc.

Here's on of my posts to very similar topic:

First of all, there's no the best way to make money online, there are just "good enough" ways. Read below for more info. Also, follow just one person and stop reading forums.

Secondly, don't buy a product that promises millions without any work and dont tell you what you will get inside they are scams.

Here are a couple of things that I recommend you do:

    1. Provide a service. This can be a very profitable thing and you can start profiting from this today. What can you do? If you have some skills, like creating graphics, writing articles you can do very well. Just post your service to warrior forum or to other forums in IM niche. Or to fiverr.com

Or, you can set up a simple site (you can even use blogger.com if you want) and provide a service there. Then just put a link to your site in your sig where you provide your services and make a lot of posts in this forum. 50 posts should be enough and you should get a couple of clients.

Another powerful service that you can offer is turning articles into videos. Not many people do this, everyone is writing articles, that's why it's so profitable.

    2. Promote CPA offers. If you're in UK or US, here's what you do: you find a CPA (cost per action offer, where someone completes a simple form, like put their name and email and you get $1-$25) and then go out there. First of all, print some flyers and put your domain that redirects to your offer. I recommend you choose an offer that offers something for free, like an Ipad.

If you go to a college, just tell your friends they can win this. You can also tell them you'll do something for them if you know what I mean.

If you're working as a receptionist or so, give these flyers to their clients

in all my experience, there is far less work selling a $2000 product to one person..

than it takes to sell a $1 product to 2000 people.

its just all about finding the right targeted customer and putting the right message infront of them.

The posters above have shared some good methods. Here's my 2 cents:

    1) Find a profitable niche you can write content on
    2) Research
    3) Write an eBook on it.. But before you do that, have clear goals as to what you want your eBook to be - brainstorm ideas for chapters and the contents (use Articles Directories, Y! Answers, Forums, Books, etc to get ideas and inspiration)
    4) Get a free hosting .. Yes, free.. And an .info domain (I got one for 2 bucks last week)
    5) Sign up for a trial of e-Junkie and upload your eBook and get the link for payment and such..
    6) Set up a sales page for it on your site (along with some useful content to increase your credibility)
    7) Promote it by writing SEO articles and submitting them to Articles Directories, signing up on forums of your niche and linking to your sales page in the signatures, etc...

That'll help you make the first few dollars - once you get a FEW dollars, you can then start getting serious with your blog and monetizing it.. OR you can work on promoting your product using paid promotional methods.. Such as outsourcing link building, PPC, etc.
You can scale it by creating more blogs like that, or by promoting your existing blog more.

Just remember that earning the first $2k are the hardest to make, but once you get the initial push, everything will flow smoothly. IMHO, the key to success isn't just hard work... It's CONSISTENT hard work. Stay commited to your goals, follow a reasonable and working business strategy and you WON'T go wrong. Good luck.

Set attaining $2000 as your goal, then all you need is some action on how you can attain that goal. If it's that emergency to attain $2000 for 13 days, then try not to put pressure on yourself on that. I would have to agree on what caleb has said, look for the meaning or the purpose why you need to have that amount in 13 days? Was it for fun? Were you and your friends are trying to make some bet? Or you just wanted to challenge yourself if you are capable of attaining that goal in 13 days? I mean, you must have a reason on why you should set timetable on attaining that goal. Look, if it's not that important; don't force yourself to be pressured by the time. All starts from small beginnings learn to follow each step as a learning process on your way to your goal. Don't be hasty on your goal; you might not be able to reach it. Just take it step by step, as the proverbs states, "A thousand miles begins with a single step" I don't know if that is the exact words, lol. But the message is there, start from the first step of your path.

Somewhere along the way you're going to have to part with your hard earned and it's the only way to found out if something works or not. If you do things organically then, it will take you a lot more time and patience and in this particular business time is the enemy.
