Full Post vs. Excerpts- What's nicer

Alright, so my website on travel and culture is about a month old and I'm still working out kinks on aesthetics. Everything is pretty much set but I was wondering what's nicer- full posts where you scroll down and see everything or excerpts?

Sometimes I feel like people only read the excerpt and might not click on the post and then miss out on all the pictures I added. Just wanted to get some feedback and thoughts.

I'd recommend whatever is best for the user. Sometimes posts are short and sweet and don't include pictures, which means snippets can be fine. Other times posts are much longer and a snippet won't really capture what the reader will read about. Maybe your theme looks better with one or the other.

I always say, focus on the users experience first.

Thanks, I do try to look at it for what is nicer for the reader. Most of my articles/posts are longer so I may keep it as an excerpt.

I would go with excerpts on the front page and full posts on the actual post pages.

It does not make sense to give an excerpt on the front and then again on the post itself.

Like you have it now is perfect.

I personally like the shorts and if they capture my attention, I will choose to read on. That's kinda what the whole internet is about,, capturing one's attention. They say you only got about 2-3 seconds so it's gonna be short anyway.

exactly... I think you do it well... having the sentence leave them hanging and WANT to/HAVE to click to read more.

your excerpts are very short, but I think you are making it work well.

Having a good self explanatory excerpts is very useful to visitor if you could create a catchy excerpts for your post and could hang your visitor at a certain point where he could not stop himself from reading whole post. So I think it is good to have an excerpts rather than full post.

Have excerpts on the front page... it helps you in many ways. Less scrolling on the homepage, increase the number of post on the homepage by keeping the scrolling still lesser, increase the number of pageviews on your blog, User is more likely to read an excerpt at the first place then if you have for him a huge bunch of words which he might get afraid of reading and just move away, The user is likely to read more than one of your excerpts because they are short to read, prominent blogs like Mashable, Readwriteweb etc does it the same way.

Normally the excerpts should be at the 1st or 2nd para of the article. If the readers find the story is interesting, they will continue reading. Otherwise, will quit also. I prefer full article instead of excerpts.

Once thing I think the blogger need to take note is, avoid lengthy page with all articles' excerpts. I find this arrangement is annoying and bored.

Arrange the articles and categorize nicely at 1 column looks more tidy. This is my preferred blog arrangement
