How to add Google Ads

So I recently developed a blog and I want to add some google ads on the navigation box. This is my first time making a blog (dealt with forums in the past) as well as my first time using Google Ads.

How do I go about this? Do I need to edit my theme to allow for the ad? Where do I put the code? Anything in particular I should know about Google Ads besides don't click your own link?

I want to do something similar to this site: The 90th Minute Soccer Blog where they have "sponsor" boxes.

    Well if you are already an adsense member then login and click create ad, then go through all of the ad options, choose a suitable size then click finish and get html code, the code will come up, highlight it then copy. Then go to your blog and insert the custom html, if you are using something like blogger then you can add an ad section which you insert the html code like I have done before.

    I am using wordpress so do I need to create an area in style.css?

    Also, do I need a bank account for google adsense? Can I use an unverified paypal with only a credit card linked?

      No I dont think so a paypal can be fine! And im not sure with a wordpress site, google it, im sure you will find out something!
