A question for all the Newbies....Need your input!

I am trying to do a survey of what all of you who consider yourself a newbie find the hardest with internet marketing. Meaning what is your weakest link and what would you like to learn more about that is not offered here or you have not found yet.

Be it setting up a hosting account to a wordpress blog what is it you need help most with. Please if you could list in order what is hardest for you to what you least need help with. And for most newbies the first one is probably taking action

Thanks for the help,
Jason

  • The hardest thing for me to do is get traffic.

    • I can write.
    • There is enough software to design your pages for you. If you need customization, plenty of warriors who can do it for a reasonable price.
    • The motivation is there and the warriors can whip me back to work when I slack off.
    • The Education is right here on the forum.
The darned traffic is the ever elusive holy grail for me. I know there is big money in PPC, but that needs deep pockets which I currently don't have.

I need to go the free traffic way that eats a lot into my time.

Well, like I always thought, I am still work in progress.

It is offered here but I'd like to add my input as well:

      Hardest for me is:

      • Niche research - breaking down the niche into a small micro niche and profitable
      • Deciding whether a static page or a wordpress blog would be best

        Great input thanks.

I tend to think wordpress is better for people starting off due to its easier to get traffic to since you can easily update it constantly and there are so many programs that work with it.

Getting traffic just takes some work but is something that you get better at over time. I find this to be at the top of the list for people. Traffic is broad in that it involves keyword research, niche research, backlink building, knowing your competition etc.

Thanks for the input this is what I am looking for!

      Thanks,

    I agree with ashwinsatyanarayana.

    Without traffic, no sales.

And as a newbie,....sometimes I don«t have the budget to spend, let's say, 200$ per month on PPC or other kind of advertising.

there are several courses and resources out there about getting traffic, but they are as good as incredibly expensive.

Another Huge, I mean HUGE lack i have is about Market research: How to find a HOT, buying niche.

Many "gurus" say: "Go find a niche, Use Google Adrowds tool, use facebook, use forums,......"but ther is no a strong HOW. How do I find a HOT niche?

I definitely vote for that one.

    regards,

    chewie.

Never spend money you dont have. I made that mistake when I first started off and got myself into even more debt.

Finding a niche is not as hard as people make it to be. I think it gets overwhelming due to that fact there is so many things to choose from. Before xmas one why I found niches for my ebay sites was just going to a store and looking for what was constantly sold out in the toy section.

      Webkinz
      Bakugan

These were the hottest items out there among toys. If I was to target lets say Webkinz niche I would look at the stuffed animals they have and find out which ones are the hot ones by checking ebay to see whats has the highest bid amounts etc. Then you target like webkinz polar bear which has little competition vs Webkinz itself.

Dont worry I am working on something hence why I am asking the question and needing your input.

      Thanks,
      Jason

I'm going to put my vote in for traffic also. Letgit traffic, not spiders and what not.

After that, QUALITY PLR stuff. I have found a lot junk and content that is frankly not worth paying for.

For me putting up my first web site is scaring the crap out of me. It is very intimidating to me. I'm not sure why because I know it isn't as difficult as I am making it out to be. I have several manuals on how to do it and have investigated it quite a bit but still....it's hard for me to do it.

I think blogs can be websites too. I mean you make a blog look like a website. a few posts and all pages should do.

I personally use a blog for my website and it is easy for me that way. No designing and stuff.

Use the ' Flexibility Theme" it's awesome and I highly recommend it. No one will even know which theme you use, if you can tweak it a little and it doesn't need any web designing or coding skills

I know. I'm planning on doing that. I'm getting my first domain name right now and I've found some great hosting so it shouldn't be too hard.

I know once I get started it will be easy to repeat the process over and over again. I plan on getting addicted to it.

I have 4 blogs, maintain another two for a business. I have a website as well.
I also can be found at several writers groups, and on several social media sites.

My main problem is legitimate buying traffic for my services. There are place to buy traffic, but will they buy?

I want people that are willing to avail themselves of my services is the hardest part of being a newbie. I've written and ghost written over 300 articles, and over 50 book reviews that are posted on Amazon and Barnes & Noble online.

Getting decent paying work is still hard.

I have honestly never had any luck buying traffic myself either. I have bought leads before that worked out well but the traffic seemed to be more spam and not targeted.

I would also say traffic but specifically PPC. It is still a mystery to me. I know that many have figured it out quite nicely and probably wonder how anyone with any common sense could keep from understanding it. Unfortunately, I am still baffled by it.

Between finding the right targeted keywords to bid on and getting clicks to your website that also don't cause you to go broke at the same time, I keep the Rolaids handy at all times. Actually I just find it easier to focus on other forms of traffic. Although it still bugs the crap out of not to be able to figure PPC out.

I've actually been having problems getting my affiliates to sell my product. I just released a product on clickbank and a bunch of affiliates (about 23) created a hop-link on the first day. But only 3 have more than 1 click.

    Hardest for me:
Sorting out all the information I have learned- I have learned so much in the past few months that I just don't know what to do. I know how to drive traffic but don't really understand those sites and what to do on them. I know how to make a web site, just not really, really good in my opinion.
Where to start is probably the hardest part too.

    Hope this helps

So would you say eveyone that are new to internet marketing would be wanting something that had them go through steps for each day/week? Something to follow to allow them to see results.

Traffic is not as hard as people think it is. It all depends on keyword research, building backlinks, and trying to rank well in google. People starting out always try to rank for keywords out of their grasp. You can obtain the same amount of traffic from several long tailed keywords vs one keyword. Traffic comes with time and some little work. But you cant expect to see 100k a month without time and ranking well in google.

The hardest part in my opinion is getting that sale.

I know it can be done, but whatever my site is doing, its turning people away and there are no buyers.

I'm working hard on my sites in hopes I can get it selling soon.

The hardest part I find as a newbie is simply finding somebody I can trust.

One person who is heavily promoted, for example, has, on his sales page, a "newspaper article" that was created by some free software that I own as well as thousands of others. Because this pathetic piece of conology was obvious to me, the rest of the long and well written sales message lost all credibility.

Other things that cause me great pause is reading a sales page that sounds very similar to one I have read before because, more than once, I have bought a product that had simply been renamed and relabeled.

The biggest problem of all, though, is that no matter how much I have spent on a product, it is never complete and often involves even more expense in order to be able to complete the process.

I would love to see a product that claimed to be a complete, paint by numbers application be complete and paint by numbers.

The hardest part is deciding where to start -

If your just starting off here is what I would do.

I first would learn about two things on here. Go and search about article marketing and keyword research. Once you understand the concept to keyword research and using long tail keywords you can move on to the next step.

Step two you need to sign up at ezinearticles.com(article database), Clickbank(affiliate program), and you will need a blogger account.

Step 3 would be go to Clickbank and find a good product to promote. I would look for something that a lot of people are promoting already. That just means that people are buying it and it should bring good sales for you. So lets say you choose a acne niche product.

Step 4: Now with your Blogger account your going to make a blog. Your blog should be the best title you can get for the product your promoting. Basically find the best keyword you have with the most traffic and use it in the title or link. Here your basically going to make a blog post that is going to be your sales letter for the product your promoting. I use different approaches. Sometimes I create a story about how i used the product and it was a success then linking to the product using my affiliate link. Or I just give straight up facts in a review fashion. This is something you have to play with to see what you do best at. Alot of the top selling products on clickbank have good tools and graphics to help you out.

        Step 5:
Now you go do your keyword research. You an using the Google Adwords keyword tool which is free and also the free wordtracker keyword tool. You can google both these up to find them.

Look for long tailed keywords in the acne niche that are tageted to your product the best you can. Lets say you find a keyword "natural cure to acne". You are going to go to google and enter it in the search as "natural cure to acne" with the quotations. This brings and exact match for that keyword and you can see its competition. You want something under 80,000 or so search results if possible and look to make sure you dont have to many high ranking sites. Example would be like WebMd or something cause you cant rank for them. Once you find 20 or so keywords that get good traffic and have low competition then go onto the next step.

Step 5: You now going to do your article marketing. Basically your going to write an article based on each of your keywords. Your going to use the keyword in the Title and I would use it about 3 more times in the body of the article. Your article should be short and sweet around 250 to 300 words. The idea is get the reader to read your review or specs on the product and click through you sig file link.

If your saying what do I write them just look at whats already on ezinearticles for acne cure etc. Just get an idea of what they are writing and start writing your article. Dont worry about being perfect just try and write about what the reader would be looking for. You want to leave the reader hanging if possible and make then click through your sig link. Your sig link can be something simple like: Check out my blog to find out more about Natural Acne Cures.

The idea is to use Natural Acne Cures as your anchor text. You can do this by entering this:

        Natural Acne Cures

Once you have your article writing you want to link it back to your Blogger post. The goal is to capture traffic this way and route them to your site for the review hoping they will go on to buy the product bringing you anywhere from 15 to 30 dollars per sale.

This is just a basic look at what you can do but its the cheapest way and after some practice can bring in about 1 to 3 thousand a month. I average about 6 articles a day promoting two products right now through clickbank and make around 2k a month off of them. You get better as you go so dont expect to make 1 thousand your first month but its possible. Once you get this going and you have income you then outsource this and you can attack many niches at a time. Each bringing in a thousand or so a month just rinse and repeat. Now not all niches will do this for you but with practice you will pick the right ones.

Hope this gets you started some. You should be able to find enough info on this form to fill in the blanks if you have questions about stuff or if it didnt make sense.

    Hi all

I would have to say my biggest problem is finding product I can market with 100% conviction. I think it's easier to work hard at everything else if you truly believe you are providing value to your customers.

I have had to try to build my own product. I suppose traffic is the next big thing

I have the same problem sometimes as well. Once you have enough cash flow then you can purchase the products your trying to promote. This is good business sense anyway since how are you supposed to truley review something if you never even seen it. There are plenty of good products you just need to find them.

And yes having your own product is the best route if you have the time. I am working on my first IM product. With the market the way it is now and everyone in debt looking for ways to fill in the gaps on the budget the IM niche is starting to run hot again.
