Man~what exact I can do to build a website that makes money?

I have built a flash game site. But hardly to get a visitors, even Google has indexed 1000+ of my pages(most are tag pages).

I tried to add backlinks, but most places don't allow me add a link with my site keyword.

I start wondering, is it because my site sucking?

And then I saw some blogs, damn they have so many links back to them, how do they do that?

How do I build a website that sell? That people willing to link back to it? Anyone has ideas?

Even with people on your site, how will it make money? If you are relying on CPC ads, you'll need a lot of traffic to make any decent coin.

I'd suggest sharing the games on social and bookmarking sites. Games are the kind of thing that go viral and people want to share. Make sure all your pages have the major 'share' buttons on them.

The two issues you have cited are the bane of IM. Few visitors... no sales. There could be a million reasons why you are not getting visitors to your site. Checking the SEO is always a good place to start. Have you chosen keywords that are overly competitive? If your competitors have tons of backlinks, are they highly ranked?

Maybe post your website address here so folks can have a look see. There is lots of qualified help here.

Backlinks and more backlinks. You want page authority, which is what you will get when you have a high page rank. Everyday make it a point to comment on blogs or post in forums.

On top of what the above posters said, you have to realize that not every website can make money. From the last research I checked, people visit the top 5 websites in their search results and if they don't find what they're looking for in the top 5 people will change their search phrase -- this means that most people won't be able to get traffic from the search engines for most phrases.

The next thing is that sites that rely on repeat visitors also have it just as hard. At the Wordpress conference in 08 I heard a statistic that said the average reader of blogs would only visit 10 blogs regularly, so if you had a blog site, the only way to gain readers was for a reader to stop regularly visiting 1 of his 10 favorite blogs. Your blog would need to be better in content than at least one of his blogs

This means that not only can't you run a niche blog where you don't have to work on it and can still make $30 a week, but you probably can't have any type of site that relies solely on traffic to make money. 1% of sites are still going to keep getting 99% of traffic, and without resources to spend you'll almost never be able to join that 1% of sites that rank on high volume searches -OR- have the resources to run one of the top sites in your niche

Serious bud, I've had internet marketers with 5 years experience wanting an email sales rep job because after 5 years they haven't been able to make even $100 a week -- they would have been been better off collecting cans or driving around the ghetto stealing metal parts than trying to build their 'niche site'.

Consider your options bud, consider that most of the people encouraging you to keep IMing are trying to sell you their 'secret method' in their signature -- Good luck to you, at the least I hope you gain some experience through IM that you can have some valid skills to offer to businesses. If you want to talk about IM for local business or some ways you might be able to help me out with a few sites I'm running, PM me

    -Keep it real

Yeah, some good advice here. I would focus on the following if I were you:

      1. Make sure that your entire website is: a) user-friendly, b) cleanly designed, c) has plenty of unique textual content & d) has social bookmarking buttons on every page.

      2. You are a member of large groups on Facebook that may be interested in games. Once you are an established member you can post about a game here and there and they'll get some exposure. By following the advice from 'Toby Lewis' (above) the exposure can turn into more exposure if any of the games go viral on the social websites.

      3. Look to do some cross-promoting with other similar websites that aren't direct competition.

With the combination of getting traffic to the site & having good quality content that keeps people on the site, Google should start rewarding you with improved rankings. It is known now that Google is looking at social popularity of a website & also the metrics (i.e. bounce rate, time on site, page views, etc.).

Actually every 2 people visit my site, one of them leave immediately.

Also the average time the rest of visit stay is about 4-5 mins.

I don't know if I can post my site here, if you see my site you'll know my site is just like hundreds of similar websites, full of similar games from almost the same providers, even game descriptions are the same.

I mean thousands of people are doing this right now, in the same way.

But some of them succeed and get lots of back links.

There was a WSO recently which was selling games sites with the potential of making £100/day (i think), by monetizing with adsense or CPA.

I don't know if they have any spaces open at the moment, but it might be worth looking out for it if they re-open. I know there is all sorts of claims in the WSO forum about earning potentials, but this one did have good feedback.

    Hi,

Yes I agree with those previous post that you need to use social networking sites to promote your site. By using it, you can target millions of their subscribers.
