Sorry to hear :/ I would also like to find a solution to preventing your site from getting hacked.

I wish the best of luck on getting your site back

What CMS did you use? Was is outdated?

Did they both get hacked at the same time? Seems to be too much of a coincidence. It could be that your computer has a keylogger. I would recommend to change all of your passwords from another computer.

If it were me, I would Google creating an .htaccess file.

Then, I'd set up a blogspot blog - for free - and upload the .htaccess with a temporary redirect to your blogspot site while you work out getting your site back.

This will keep Google happy, relatively ... and once you're ready you can get your site back up and running by removing the redirect from the .htaccess

Yeah it looks like the same time the site i was working on was the first one i noticed so i check all my other sites and found 1 other so quite possibly the same time it happened,

You should contact your hosting provider.

Many do backup for their customers. They they usually keep a week or 2 in the backup archives. Occasionally the backup service is not perfect but it's certainly something you should check.

    Good luck

You did only HALF of what was suggested:
        1. delete
        2. upload a new index file = meaning the index.php file from the root directory of the wordpress package. (Not the theme index file!)
