What's Your Take on Niche Marketing?

It's a pretty basic question. I personally own over 130+ niche websites and love it to death. But there are many people out there that believe it's not realistic.

What is your take on niche marketing and why?

and

If you could build a niche website around ANYTHING what would it be?

    Good question Justin.

I love niche marketing! I have around 30 niche sites and have tested lots of different niche marketing techniques. My biggest and most immediate successes are when I create a site around a particular product...not necessarily a whole brand or type of product.

    For example:
Instead of going after Dell Laptops, I would go after Dell Latitude E6400 Laptop. I notice much faster rankings and quicker commissions.

However you can still make some good commissions on broader niche sites, it just takes longer and you need more quality backlinks.

To answer your question, I would build a site around a particular health topic where people are despite for a solution (hence why Acne, Hemorrhoids, ED niches do so well)

    Great answer Mark

I always build my niche websites now around products that I actually have interest in and find they are much more successful.

Great concept on the E6400, I have used that technique before and it's much more targeted.

I do however disagree with the backlink theory, even though it is important, I think people should stop putting so much focus on it. Traffic is the most vital source of making money online and even though you may rank #1 today, who's to say you won't rank #30 tomorrow.

Many of my websites rank in the top 3, but I don't intentionally build backlinks, instead I just focus on traffic, which actually brings in backlinks at the same time. Not to say backlinks are worthless, I just find it pointless if someone is simply building a website and building backlinks versus traffic.

These are just my views though

Also great niche there. In that theory, if you don't already have a website related to that niche, go out and build one right now

Thanks for the Post Justin. Can you claify the portions I highlighted above? I'm not clear on how traffic creates backlinks in and of itself, and isn't building backlinks a way to build traffic? Thanks for any clarity you can shed.

To be honest I don't really touch many of them. After I initially set them up and get traffic going, they don't really slow down. Some of the websites I haven't touched for a year are actually doing 2x better.

The ones I do however manage are much larger and generate more income.

I will indeed put up a blog post, either on Warrior Forum or my personal blog. I might actually make it even easier to follow as well.

Do you use free blogs at all. If so, how do they compare to paid blogs.

I do not use free blogs. I have tested them out and found they are low in customization and I don't want to risk all of my information on a site owned by someone else.

It just shows there are different ways to skin a cat. One question that interests me is how much does it costs to maintain that many sites. What is your strategy with deadwoods, I am assuming you have time limits for non functioning sites. Surely you don't do well on all 130 sites and they will be requiring some pruning.

Finally the general trend looks like one where SE are increasingly looking for relevant updated sites, have you thought about how this is likely to impact sites you are unable to attend to.

Niche marketing is my favorite kind of marketing, from building niche blogs to building tight product specific minisites. I have around 100 or so niche sites. Always building more.

I'll tell you sth! I have been working on a site that I really don't like but brings in some money! The end result is that I do it without giving 100% ..not even 10%...I make some money but it has become a chore! I am closing this particular site and will concentrate on what I like doing ie: other niches which according to some people are OVER SATURATED! Now, what isn't over saturated! If you like it, do it! If you are successful at it, even better! If you are not YET successful at it...try again! It has taken me a while to realise that I will be much better, will go much further and will invest myself a lot more if I like the subject!

You just have to make a difference and when you read the hype that is published on the net every SINGLE day it isn't so hard to make a difference!

Don't give up what you like! Think of it this way.

I am sure that Artistotle Onassis was ADVISED many times over that he shouldn't start his companies, too risky, war looming and yet.....

I am convinced that Angel Merkel was told never to go for the German Presidency....she is a woman...

I know for a fact (since I lived in the country at the time) that President Jacques Chirac was told NEVER EVER TO go for presidency! NOT A CHANCE! Yet, he was elected!

Bottom line.....unless you are DEAD....You can make it! Read some of Lance Winslow articles on Ezinearticles! He is very inspirational!

These are just my 2 cents...Go for it!!!! Don't listen! DO, DO, DO!

    All the best

    Ymest
