I Hate Writing, but I live for the opportunity to rant on forums...

I also hate making videos... It is hard to come across as a professional, when you have not been trained to enunciate words as an actor has been trained to do... Call it my Oklahoma upbringing, if you will...

But we are all marketers, right?

What do marketers do?

Marketers spend their lives trying to communicate the benefits of specific products and services to prospective customers, in order to sell those products and services to them.

So, what is a poor Okie to do?

I hate writing, and I hate making videos...

How am I supposed to communicate the benefits of the products and services I am wanting to sell, without engaging in the practice of writing or talking?

Darn... This Internet Marketing stuff is hard!!

Everyday, I see people just like myself here on the forums. In one sentence they claim that they cannot write, then they go on to communicate an idea to us that makes perfect good sense...

How the hell did they accomplish communicating an idea to their audience (me), if they truly cannot write?!?

I see people everyday talking about how much money they are making online...

How the hell are they doing that?

I am sure that most people are just like me... They hate to write, and they hate making videos... So how are they selling an offer without communicating a reason to purchase the offer??

I wanna know!!

I wanna know how people are selling stuff, despite the fact that they hate writing and talking to people!!

Is it really so hard to tell me how they are successful, without first communicating with people the how and why of buying their offer?

There must be a magic button or magic potion that makes people successful, since everyone hates to write and talk to others...

Where is that magic button I seek?

I demand that if you know the answer, you tell me NOW!!

My car payment is due next week, and I need to know how this stuff should be done!!

Haha -- I feel 'ya 100%. There was a time when I had a lot to say, and writing was a breeze. And than I found out, as George Carlin says, "It's all bullsh*t, and it's all bad for ya." So rather to contribute to the excessive amount of internet graffiti with regurgitated information, I choose to not write much at all. It's one of those rock & a hard place situations.

Well, first off - you did this wrong. You are supposed to wait until after the car is repoed to come in here and demand answers about how to make money online.

Nice one, my response to this is if you managed to convey your message to a group of people who believe you HATE writing and HATE making videos you sure did a good job writing this thread :-)

I also believe some people just say they hate doing something in order to get a response from people then when they come up with an idea they let that be know also

Hey, actually you can do some relevant research on your topic and compile the information, then hire a freelancer to write/ rewrite for you. You can go to the warrior for hire section to choose a good writer and the cost is quite reasonable around $1 per 100 words.

      LOL

At least a couple of you recognized that I actually love to write.

For those who missed it, my point is that if you want to sell anything online, all that is required of you is to communicate the benefits of your offer to your prospective customers...

And if you can take the time to rant on the forum in a way that makes sense to people, then you have the pre-requisite knowledge to be able to communicate the benefits of your offer to your audience.

I reckon it helps if you actually know something about what you are trying to sell. It is alot easier to write about something when you have actually bought it and used it yourself.

That's why most folks pimping things as affiliates fail - they come across as fake and insincere because they have no real idea about the product they are promoting.

My motto is, never do yourself what you can pay someone else to do for you. Edit: I now realize the first post was somewhat tongue-in-cheek. I'm having a sort of... dead to rights day so I'm going to blame that for missing it. But I'll leave this. Maybe it will help someone who really is getting stuck.

I heard you can try like... reverse osmosis? What's that called? Put your forehead up to the computer screen and all the great ideas in your head will instantly translate themselves into products that make you money!

Gosh I wish it were that easy. I think we should all start worrying about computer AI when that happens, though.

Want to know a secret? Those of us who make our livelihood writing? We hate it too.

I mean, maybe that's just me, but writing out this, that, and the other day after day after day does become tedious. I have days where I feel completely paralyzed to write anything, but I still have to do it.

Try to look at it another way. I imagine you're used to structured writing that has to be a certain way and absolutely perfect on the first go or it's just not worth your time. That's what we're all taught, for some reason.

Why not try free writing? That's essentially what we do in forum posts, isn't it? We have a topic, and we just type almost stream of consciousness until our thoughts are expressed in regards to that topic. Then we scan and proof, and submit.

Just try this for even 5 minutes on something you have to write "professionally" for your business. You may still hate it. One method certainly can't work miracles. But at least you'll get something down.

Man, I bet you really hate writing out a script for a video then.

I used to worry about what my voice sounded like on my videos, I have lived in so many places that I have dibs and dabs of half a dozen accents when I talk, but mostly, I sound like I'm from New York. not so much the city, but new York State.

But I realized after I got over worrying about it, that I was pretty much the only one that cared. So I just let go of that. And my videos became a whole lot better.

      Podcasts suck too.

I don't hate talking to others. I actually am a very social person.

That being said, if you are trying to sell something to someone then you will probably need to actually WANT to talk to them. Sure, you don't NEED to have a passion for what you do, but it definitely helps when you do. That way it doesn't bore you to death while you are helping explain why they should buy, what they could gain by doing so, helping them with any questions, etc.

Also, in my opinion if you are going to promote a product, you better be prepared to buy that same product for yourself and learn everything about it.

That way when someone comes to you with a question or something they don't understand, you can answer them instead of directing them to youtube for a tutorial, or sending them to the users manual.

I'm not really happy but the fact remains people have got it in their heads that they can't write and they hate it. I actually was at that point at one time. I started out a good writer as a kid. Read a lot so writing came easy. Won essay contests and such.

But as I got older, I had teachers who were ridiculously critical and inhibiting. I came to hate writing. I was lucky enough to have a professor in college reopen the door for me. Not everyone is so lucky.

Now you made me get all serious in what was supposed to be a satirical thread.

Well, the problem with the interwebs is that things can be misconstrued in their meanings. I'm a sarcastic person by nature, so sometimes I sound meaner in my writing than I intend to be. Heh.

The problem with people saying they can't write or won't write, isn't that they can't, it's the fact that they are lazy butts who want someone to do it for them. I'm a huge advocate of using Dragon for those type of people. Most of us dictate faster than we can type. Alas, my PC does not have enough memory for DNS, so I comprised and got a super duper keyboard.

I enjoy writing myself, I've always been creative and like you won contests and sometimes even got my work in the local paper. It's fun, but as I said you need the right mindset for it.

No doubt some are lazy but I really think they are self conscious. Same goes for public speaking and singing. We don't start out that way as little kids.

I am constantly amazed at how well people actually do communicate online. And a lot of them would deny being able to write.

Sure good writing is more than just putting words on paper but really the heart of writing is communicating and when you take away the constrictions, a lot of people are better at it than they know.

Get a spokespuppet to do the videos for you!

These are some puppets our friends make at Give A Little Giggle. Or you could use "virtual" actors using Xtranormal. Or you could do the voiceovers and use visuals to get the point across instead of having the video on you.

I was at a conference where the speaker said he preferred videos because writing was hard for him, bu just talking was easier.

My car payment is due next week, and I need to know how this stuff should be done!!

    .
The easy answer is you outsource this work. Instead of doing things you hate pay someone to do them for you. Then, you just have to manage your team of people and make sure they are doing things properly.

BTW - I love writing.....I live to write.....and I do it full time!

I once had an editor that said this to me about writing: "I hate the job, but I love the work."

I hate writing too, but I love the finished product. I think bodybuilders, artists, engineers and even musicians -- after much blood, sweat and tears -- probably hate their jobs. I have musician friends who go on the road for 6 months and play one-night stands -- and they say they hate the job, but they love to play.

The reward is in the work, so said many hard nosed editors and alley philosophers as they preached to me many times in my youth, which I misspent playing and not working.

I laughed at them then, but now I know what they said was true. It's not the money; it's not the sex; it's not the relationships -- they can vaporize like thieves in the night. It is the work that matters after all is said and done, not whether or not your hated the job of doing it. It is the work that remains when you are dead and gone!

I, like my old editor, hate the job of writing, but I love the work. The work. The work....

Well I hate writing too! A lot. That is why I do videos.

My neutral "Canadian accent (eh - we don't all do that by the way - but every fourth word out of my sister in laws mouth is - but I digress) doesn't seem to grate on people too much.

I can't even make a long forum post. lol.

How do I make video post on here?

I wonder if everyone would hate writing so much if they got one of the top voice recogniction software programs and spoke all their articles and blog posts instead of typing them!

I too, tire of typing at times and it can get old real fast...

But it's much quicker and easier to dictate just about anything as we talk much faster than we can type except for maybe the world's greatest secretary...

I type 110 WPM at peak. Speed is not my problem. I don't think most people who struggle with writing have that as a primary issue, either. Writing can be tedious, especially about topics that need considerable research. I'd make a killing writing if I could figure out how to outsource my research.

So hand it over -- I live to do research. It's my favorite thing in the whole world. I've turned into a freaking encyclopedia. Give me a good fee and an interesting subject and I go nuts on it. My problem isn't research at all - it's getting burnt out on writing about it. I spend a lot of time looking for rocks to fix that, LMAO. Literally - my biggest problem with getting the writing done is I get too deep into the research to stop and write about it.

I have no clue what I'll ever do with the amount of info I pull up - but I can't resist it. A couple of years ago I wanted to write an article on ecosystems - and I'm still researching about them. I've got 2 years of research in because I wrote a stupid 500 word article. Holy crap. I stop and write about them now and again, too -- but just can't stop reading about them -- same thing that happened with natural remedies - I use that though, cured my dog of cancer last year. Earthquakes? I have a running section on those and track them globally and make yearly reports because I started researching for a few articles when Chandler's wobble stopped in 2005.

Is this nuts? I'm starting to think I may be a tad off kilter. If I wrote as much as I research and read, I'd OWN the freaking web by now.

I hate writing about products that people don't want to buy. Or really I hate writing to the wrong people about products that they do not want in the first place. Am I hocking to the wrong crowd? There must be a magic lever to pull that changes people's minds.

I love writing fan fiction. But most of the readers want the characters to become vampires and romance a marry sue (themselves). Why do they have to change what I write to what they want?

I love to play video games. I would like to play Team Fortress all day long. But how would I be able to live like that? I need to eat, pay rent, and drink Mountain Dew. The only way I know is to trade TF2 hats for a living.

I guess it's all about embracing your passion.

Being self-critical writing is hard for me also, but i have been dictacting as I drive around and then I get it transcribed at ODesk - comes back 98% okay, with a few small edits. I have also been know to talk to my recorder when I am in the garden LOL

As for videos - use Camtasia and record your screen - do not worry about much when I do this, but in the beginning I redid every "take" about 15 times - but now I am an "old pro".

You can also schedule a Webinar and create a PPT -
