Possible to put a mysql database separate from mainsite

I think this is what I need to do? Is it possible to do it though and if so does the database have to be on a dedicated server if the site is on one?

    Your MySQL database can be in any server in the world, as long as there's MySQL installed and the server is accessible publicly.

    Judging by your question though, your best bet of getting it all done would be hiring a freelancer that knows that their doing and will likely relocate your database in about half an hour for a few bucks, as opposed to you surfing the net for days to find decent tutorials.

      You just need to put server address in place of "localhost" if your database is on another server .

      you can use also use site files hosted on japan with database hosted in UK . No problem.
