Scenario & What would you do?

Let's say you were a brand new marketer. You were eager and intelligent but basically broke. You had the basic tools - Dreamweaver, Camtasia, but couldn't afford the good SEO tools like market samurai. Keyword research is not your forte- somehow no matter if you "get it" going in, you come out getting it wrong. You can't outsource. Anything.

You've tried several methods to money and realize some of them are either NOT your cup of tea, or are something to be shelved for later- when you have funds for outsourcing. But you've found something that you really really love. it doesn't have to have a website, but, you want a website, you want a blog and to do videos and reviews on top of the things you want to create yourself . Since you have no outsourcing funds, you have to come up with ways to do everything yourself. Fortunately you are a fast learner. Unfortunately information overload is an inevitable result of having to learn EVERYTHING. *laugh*

Also unfortunately, the tools you really need to make things work a hell of a lot easier for you are out of reach. IE a perfect multifunctional wordpress theme for blogging and or sales. membership site software. wp fanpro. market samurai. amazon server. customer support. good plr. etc...

let's also say you are under severe time constraints, only able to squeeze in 3-6 quality hours in the middle of the night only to have to be up bright and early the next day. so ... exhausted but determined hah.

IF you were such a state, what approach to marketing would you take? knowing what you know now, what your strengths and weaknesses are, which path would you have started with, especially if you were under extreme constraints?

how much would you try to take on? would you be the type to kill yourself trying to do everything? would you start small, and what would small be for you?

what kind of free tools would you use to make the job easier? aside from GIMP, open office, sxc.hu, the well known ones.

how would you approach traffic and backlinks? how could it be done in an hour a day, or is that just never going to cut the mustard for a beginner, or anyone?

I know a lot of marketers start out throwing money all over the place for tools, for training, outsourcing, PLR, etc. But what would you do if you really had nothing raw talent, determination, and what others might call "an impossible dream"?

I would spend time reading the threads in this forum, picking up things you could use for free and make notes on things of interest so you can find something to focus on. If you look at too much at once, you'll never succeed because your work will be spread over too many jobs at once.

Well, I would also buy a copy of my ebook on freelancing as it has a TON of great stuff included. It tells you how to find work, what sort of work you can do, ideas you may not have considered. It also has pages of links to sites with tons of free tools you can use in whatever work you start doing.

I wish you luck in your journey.

I'd try to find online work first until I could afford all the tools that I need to start the business.

Or....I could start a blog on a niche or subject that I am an expert on or passionate about and build it up til I have considerable traffic and monetize it.

    Hi,
I do not think an hour a day will cut it...forget the BS about how the net will give you a free lunch. You will need to spend several hours a week reading and learning and growing. I do not think that building your knowledge base ever ends.

To the best of my knowledge, affiliate marketing would be first on my list of recommended ways to get started in Internet Marketing. Your affiliate(s) has the ability to "close the sale" and your job, initially, is to send traffic to your affiliate. While you are lerning this part of Internet Marketing, learn what you can about Email Marketing, since you will want to build a list ASAP.

Then progress to learning about copywriting, SEO, keywords, blogging, backlinks, article marketing and wordpress...to name a few of the ingredients that you will need in order to be more effective and to be able to move up to PLR products.

As I mentioned, I do not think one hour per week will make it in Internet Marketing, which leaves Ebay as my next suggestion. You will still need to learn ebay procedures and will want to learn some copywriting skills to add sizzle to your sales scripts. If you choose to become a Powerseller, and make some real money, you are back in the knowledge building game because you will need an ebay store and your own website which will eventually bring you back around to Internet Marketing, which requires that you learn Internet Marketing skills.

Quick money at one hour a day, leaves you with ebay, but you will need to invest more time(IMO) to see any real growth and income, even on ebay.

    Much Success,
    George Pierce
PS. The Internet is a wonderful place and you can make money, but there is much to learn.
PPS. At the time of this post, my signature refers to a 48 hour plan...but even my 48 hour plan WILL NOT WORK AT ONE HOUR A DAY!

i didn't mean working one hour a day. working 4-6 hours a day but could you devote just ONE hour a day specifically to Traffic leaving the other 3-5 hrs for blogs videos product creation training reading etc etc on and on

You obviously have a knack for writing, I have no doubt you'd be able to sell your services here for extra cash if you were so inclined.

Also the WarRoom has free stuff (both tools and information) that deals with many of the things you're asking about.

If you're serious about IM, it's one of the best investments you can make.

    Good luck,
    Jeremy

I'm ok at writing but only sometimes. When I *have* to write (ie for earning money LOL) it becomes much more difficult. Which means more time consuming. I've tried but I just can't get into spending the time on the writing for cash when I have so much writing to do for my own stuff hehe.

I'll definitely join the war room as soon as i have more money coming in than monthly upkeep costs. which is about all i'm making atm.

Figure out something that works and do that over and over again until you have capital to hire it out.

With Dreamweaver + Camtasia you can easily make a site that offers training videos on whatever is the new hottest IM software and launch it using Paypal + article marketing.

using dreamweaver, one would have to learn how to add all of the elements, wouldn't a wordpress theme be better, if one did a site with training videos, blog, reviews, etc?

dreamweaver's good for squeeze pages but i wouldn't begin to know how to use it to biuld a site like that without a lot of time investment learning hehe

the idea is to get into a situation where you are not trading your time for money, but rather earning money via marketing stuff to a list.

however, getting to that point requires a lot of time and some cash.

so here is what i would do.

video is big right now. i think if you are decent with camtasia, you could probably find work making product or software demos.

heck, there are people launching wso's everyday that could cut down on their customer support if they had you make a couple videos for them showing customers how to use their software.

if i were in your position, i would get my camtasia skills up to par, and then focus on demo videos.

with this idea, any time not spent making money by creating videos could be spent pro-actively approaching possible clients on the internet.

$20-30 or so for a video that takes you an hour and you could start putting a little cash away to get some of the IM tools you need.

its not a great way to get rich, but if you work it, you could probably put a few extra bucks in your pocket and start moving up.

not to mention the fact that you will make a few connections along the way.

there is a warrior for hire section that costs like $20 i think. it might be worth it to help you get started. i would offer a couple of freebies to to get things started.

but dont just limit yourself to demos, do training stuff, simple video editing with camtasia. there are quite a few things you could use that software to do.
