Need help using forums to generate traffic

Hi everybody! This is my first post and I don't see a page for new members to introduce themselves, so allow me to do it here

My name is Charles Butler, I live in Southern California and I own CardCodeShop.com, where I deliver pre-paid game cards via email.

I want to use forums as one way of targeted marketing and I'm sure that some forums don't want anything that's remotely spammish in their community. So, I would like to ask people here who successfully use forums to market primarily for marketing purposes for tips on how to achieve this, especially on areas such as first impressions (One question is, should I use my real name? I'm not very fond of usernames when it comes to marketing, unless it's effective of course :p). I've searched the forums on here and haven't seen anything to answer this issue that I am having. Any help on this would be greatly apreciated. Thanks!

If your promoting your game cards, why not put together a free report listing all the free trial offers from game codes etc. Make some worthwhile posts in game forums, find ones that allow you to have a sig file and lead them to a squeeze page where you give away the ebook as a free download after they optin.

That's an excellent idea! I'm not faniliar with making ebooks, but I have been combing through the forums here looking for a guide. If you or anybody else could point me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it

        Hi Charles,
Keep reading the forum, but most ebooks these days are in pdf format,
and later versions of Microsoft Office Or Open Office (a free open source software compatible with Microsoft) will let you create and export your docs into PDF format.

So as long as you can type and have a copy of Open Office you should be able to create a simple ebook report.

The free report or even an ecourse is a good idea - you can build you list that way pretty quickly.

As far as letting the forum users know you have it available, just take the same old proven tactic that we all use - be useful and contribute to the forums - don't "sell" all the time. Let your expertise show through.

        PS - welcome to WF.

Definitely. I guess I may have overanalyzed the situation, I tend to do that sometimes :p. But it's better to ask and be a fool for 5 minutes than to not ask and be a fool forever

Oh, and thanks for the welcome, it made me feel all warm and fuzzy lol
