Hi,
I sold my website ( registrar: name.com ) to a guy who has an account on (godaddy.com) .
I just want to transfer the domain to his name (while keeping the host as it is ), to his godaddy account.
please tell me what is the procedure . Also i wanted to know, will that make any harm to the website or not ?

thanks,
Joy

    no, transfering the domain won't hurt the site. make sure you set up the DNS entries on the new registrar.

    It would be easier if your client got a name.com account so you could just push the domain over to his account.

    But if he'd prefer having you transfer it to godaddy.com, here's an article from GoDaddy's help center.
    Preparing to Transfer Domain Names to Us - Search the Go Daddy Help Center

    Transferring a domain should not affect the site in any way.

    There are no issues if you are just changing domain ownership & registrar, and you are going to run website on same hosting account... but my question is you sold your website and transferring only domain name how?{selling website means you sold whole website contents with domain name not just domain name}

    And if your hosting account is single domain hosting or in case of multidomain hosting the domain name which you just sold is primary domain name for your hosting account, what if tomorrow buyer changes name servers. You won't be able to access cPanel. OR if buyer wants to make changes in website asks you for cPanel details he could get access to your other websites also running on that same hosting account. So to get the best answer for your question go to your hosting provider create support ticket or if it has live support than contact via that and ask them what you are asking here?

      That's only true statement in your post.

      Read again what the OP asked: changing domain owner AND registrar but not host.

      You didn't answer to any of those...

    It's far easier if he just registers at name.com ... then you can just push the domain to him in a matter of minutes. Otherwise, use these instructions
