Partner with your competitor ? would u go for it ?

So, I have been wondering for a while now. I have pretty few competitors that would be count successful in my area. Certainly gained some enemies out of them

I have been wondering is it a smart idea contact a competitor for a partnership ? after all getting a partner who put as much effort as you do, will help you business be twice its size and strength.
Would you go for it ? and if you think it is a good idea, how can you determine which competitor is the right partner to work with ?
