when i first got into IM in like.. don't let me lie, i think it was '93 - that was the time of them bulletin board systems, running PCB, OBV/2, RemoteAccess and all that funky shit..
i was a kid, i didn't know nothing about business plans, usp, marketing, etc.. but i evolved and learned..
i used to call all them dial-up oversea boards, spent a fortune on that.
it took a whole bunch of years but i actually managed to learn a few things.
i attended a business school - learned more things.. i made some friends in marketing - learned more.. same with seo.

whole point of this thread is: If you're a newbie.. please don't expect someone to tell you a full-fledged business plan. that won't work.
take your time, do your own research and.. believe me: you WILL make mistakes! it's OK - but you'll learn from your mistakes and you *will* evolve. just don't quit after your first year.. hang on there!

BTW, thanks much for the PM relating to another topic. I couldn't reply to you since I don't have more than 15 posts.

I don't know. I kind of stumbled into IM by SEOing the site for my wife's business. We started making roughly an extra $5k a month, for a few nights of tinkering with her website. That was three years ago, we're still making that money. To the best of my knowledge, we've made over $150k in a field were most people make $10k a year or less.

Imagine if I actually "knew" something back then.

If someone finds that magic button that instantly places $100,000 a day into my bank account... be sure to PM me.

Research, Research, and take action... best business plan anyone could ask for.

It's so true. And for newbies, you got to take things one at a time. It's tempting to read just one book or watch just one video and go out and try to make 10k/month and then be left wondering what happened. You've got to be proficient in a few different areas in order to make IM work. That's all there is to it. Or, just have enough beginning capital to pay someone else to do it all for you!

thats another option in this age of outsourcing - but IMHO you still need to have a solid business plan.
