Hi,
does anyone know how to track a traffic source to your site without placing any html code or script on your site?

You can also use Compete.com, but you won't get accurate data if you don't place tracking code on your site.

The best data you're going to get is from on-site scripts. I use services like Google Analytics, GetClicky and Quantcast. The first two are great for knowing WHO is on your site and in what quantity, where they go, etc. Quantcast is great for understanding, on the slightly longer-term, the demographics that generally visit your site the most. It breaks results down by age, income, race, etc. Very useful.

They all, though, do involve on-site HTML / Javascript code to be installed on your site, but that's the only way I know to get very accurate data.

    All the best,
    Vince

If you have a decent website traffic analytics as part of your web hosting for your site, it should have (better or worse depending on the traffic program used) data for you on where the traffic to your site is coming from. Some will also give you keywords used to find you, which search engines, and much more.
