Facebook "vanity" url question...

INTERNET MARKETING

I was told (here) that the 25-likes requirement to be able to claim a "vanity" url is no more.

So I made 3 new pages (none have any likes yet). Then I did the vanity name thing for one of them -- worked fine.

But... when I went to do the same thing for the other 2 pages, FB told me it's not possible + that it would be possible in the future. I don't know what that means.

I thought it maybe meant to wait a day or so. But now I did wait 2 days, and it still says the same thing.

Any ideas?

Again, none of these 3 pages have any likes and they were all ceated on the same day.

No ideas, sorry. Facebook is a great mystery. I have a normal page there with a vanity url, and a fan page with one or two fans, and it has a vanity link as well. I just created the links, since I didn't know that it wasn't possible

Same here, made one url then for the next one they said "nope". Really dk the answer, but hopefully it is just a waiting period.

It could be a waiting period or something else. Some times when facebook won't let me do something, I just log out and log back in and it lets me.

Really sorry but i don't have any idea regarding with your concern. Only facebook can answer that. You can ask facebook help desk for your problem though.

Are you going directly to facebook.com/username to do this? You should see ALL of your pages in the drop down.

  Yes - I see all the pages in menu on page that is for the vanity name-claim purpose. All looks the same -- just cannot proceed the same way I could for the 1st page claim.
  
  I'll try the log out + back in method.
  
  Note: Thank GAWD the 1st one I did was the one VERY LIKELY to have been claimed by someone else. The others are extremely UNlikely to be claimed, so there's no rush.

  I admin a number of FB pages, some of which let me make a vanity url right away, others which required 25 likes first. My best guess is that it alternates, maybe randomly, but "ok-no-ok-no" is my experience.

So all the pages are linked to your FB account? FB knows you control all of them?

Maybe since you did one without any likes, they want your others to have likes first. But, with FB who knows.

you are allowed 1 without getting the 25 likes!

so the one in which you got you vanity url you now go and get 25 likes, you will then be able to get it without the likes on the next page!

basically i think of it as you still need the 25 likes on ever page but this feature allows you to jump the que on 1 at a time until you hit the 25 like mark.
