Manual Penalty from Google lifted (STORY)

In late August, someone contacted me about one of my new sites. They said liked the domain and wanted to buy it. I had already spent $1400 on content and SEO, plus hours of my own time tinkering and designing a great custom theme for it.

At the time the site was already making 150 per month and the buyer offered $1500 ..of course I said no, but he seemed royally upset. That's where, i just stopped responding to his emails.

A week later the site was hit with a -50 penalty and a few days after that it dropped out the serps for all keywords include the domain name. But it was still indexed.

So 2 weeks ago I filed a reconsideration request and I mentioned I believed that I might have pissed off a potential buyer of the site and that he may have done things to harm the site. Sure enough, Google replied to the request saying that they have revoked the "Manual Spam Action".

So my explanation seemed to be a good enough reason to put my site back in good standing, and it makes me think even more that this guy reported the site to Google.

Wow. I didn't know big G imposed penalties just because someone makes a false spam claim. Good to hear you got things back on track.

Now if only we could get them to reconsider Adsense reinstatement requests! I purchased a great site a few months ago, that made $ via Adsense and affiliate ads. Within 10 days of purchasing it, I received an email citing a particuluar 1400 post "did not provide value" to visitors, and that the domain had been banned from the Adsense program.

Seems there is nothing I can do. So glad to hear you had positive results with your request though!

Is Google supposed to believe anyone who claims that a website contain a virus or spamming the web?

Don't they have to check first to see how truthful is that claim?

I can't believe how such big company can be so naive? Actually I think it has to be more than one request.
