Giving up a domain with my own name - REALLY HARD!

Hi guys,

I know this is going to be a bad decision for me, but money is all what I need right now to survive. I am planning to sell my domain with my own name, and I had a buyer already waiting for him to send money...and I have another domain to sell as well. Both my name and the other domain have high ranks (PR3 and PR2). We'll, I only generated few Clickbank and DigiResults sales there, and it's not enough. The real reason why I sell my domain with my own name is that I'm on my way to being broke, and I'll send a $450 refund to my client within this week due to some problems I had with Ezine Articles publication...no more exceptions.

Last time when I submitted his articles to Ezine, there were no problems. But now the rules have changed as they've become stricter than ever. Only few articles were published, but most of them were rejected. Even my writer's articles were also rejected, which really wasted my time but I give him a second chance...but if they were rejected once again, he'll refund me too so that I can refund my client.

It's really hard to give up this domain of mine, but I had no other choice coz' money is everything.

I may have lost a huge financial battle this week, but not the whole war just yet. I'm going back to square one again, finding someone to hire me full time or part time.

I'm sorry to hear that! It's hard to make the tough decisions sometimes...however, just keep your chin up and don't let it get you down too much! If you are determined I am sure that you will be able to turn things around!

Its not the end of the world, but it does kinda stink.

Is there no other way to raise the money? If you can write, why not offer a writing service to raise some cash?

Wow that really sucks. Give it a day, clear your head and see if you still want to sell at the end of the day.

Can't you contact your old clients to do other tasks you can charge them for?

I'd be hesitant to sell a domain that's personalized like that.

Think I would rather explore other ways, like keyword research, blog installations or even jump onto fiverr (.com) for some gigs.

A good lesson I learned from Russ Ruffino for the $5 jobs is to pick something you can do marketing related that takes the shortest time. That way, if it takes you 15 minutes to complete a job, then you could get 3 or 4 done per hour.

Haven't tried it but it certainly sounds doable.

How to make $450 standing on my head? mind boggles ! :-)

but seriously - when things are desperate it is really hard to see through the darkness into where there might be a bright future as this usually involves some level of RISK. And when you are in a dark desperate place, you just dont want any risk ..
I understand, and hope you can get through this. Unfortunately I'm pretty new to internet marketing so have no idea how to make a QUICK $450.

Try to write, or maybe get a business loan? Not really sure, but if you really want the domain I'm sure there is some way to make money another way.

Good luck for you! But to be honest, you shouldn't sell your domain. Because doing everything from the scratch is harder. If you need money badly, can't you borrow it from someone you know?

If you lack of money then no choice to selling it . But if with my name, i would not sell it even high demand in the market. Because i can use that domain and create website and monetize it in long run.

Maybe i can said my personal name is not popular but when you get your own name in the domain name. You feel proud with yourself.

    Here's my update:

I've given Ezine another shot, this time writing articles very carefully and even proofread it to my mom and sisters (their English is way better than mine). After a day or two, still my submitted articles were rejected by Ezine. So I might be committed to tell my client later that I'll refund him $450 and I'm left with over $100 in savings, a huge disappointment for me as a hardworker....and my dad could tell me that my career is a failure.

It's not easy for me to recover the $450 anymore....if this happens I can't spend my whole budget for the Christmas gifts during Holidays.

If all you have to do is get the articles on ezine so you don't have to refund this person, then why not ask someone here who writes on ezine for some help.

You are distraught. A new set of eyes might be able to detect the issue and give you a solution in a matter of minutes.

      Don't give up yet.

Here's my update. I have almost committed to refund $450 to my client, but my conscience prevented me from doing it as I'm still looking for clients who can save me on this project. So luckily I've found a gem, a Native American senior writer from Miami with a Masters Degree and over 800+ articles published as an Ezine Platinum author. So far this is the only solution for me to save this project and keep some of my money for Christmas.

He initially offered me $2 per 100 words, but since he understands my situation, he reduced it to $1 per 100 words. We've been talking for more than an hour, and we had a deal. He will write and submit 6 articles a day to Ezine until I reached 45 articles, and he will also give me a copy of these articles as well.

        So all articles will be 400+ words @ $4 per article. $4 x 45 = $180

Money left: $270 + over $100 in savings.....

Even if I'm confident that he will save my project, still my fingers are crossed and my feelings were having some little worries right now...and if these articles were live...I can finally breathe very well and begin my submission tasks.

As for my personalized domain.....I decide to hold on for now....still fighting to win and give gifts to my loved ones this Christmas!

It sounds like your down to the barrel. You gotta do what you gotta do. If selling a personalized domain will help keep you afloat until you get some consistent income coming in, then I'd do it. Sometimes you just have to make sacrifices like this for a better tomorrow.

Figure out something that your client needs more than the EzineArticles that is worth $900 and steer him towards a $450 credit for that instead of a cash refund. This takes both nerve and finesse and you may be too young to pull it off, but just maybe...

Stuff like this is never easy. And you wouldn't be the first one to have to sell assets to cover your backside. We've all been there. Just chalk it up to another lesson in the University of Hard Knocks. It sounds like you have the right idea - just try to learn from the experience, pick yourself up and keep on truckin'!

Or better yet...focus on IM in your own country, using your own language. Truly the freedom to operate without the English barrier.

Why you would struggle with English when you have an entire 900 million people market in your own country, If I could speak your language, I would be unstoppable

If EzineArticles is rejecting the articles you have written, then doesn't it make sense to step up your game and write better content?

That would solve one problem. It would reduce refunds, and increase the chances of you being able to sell writing to more people, and more writing to repeat buyers.

If only you stepped up your game, you would not be sweating refunds right now.

But to the point of your-name.com, if your vanity domain is not making money, then there is no reason to keep possession of it.
