Mac Vs. Windows - The Ultimate Debate

I found this website very interesting as I have been battling with myself for the past few years on determining if I want to settle down with a mac or a PC.

Be sure to read this article, as it provides a great argument.

What are the warriors using these days and why?

I've always used Windows just because it is what I'm used to. I also have enough documents saved in Windows formats that switching to Mac would just be a huge pain.

As for graphic design and movie editing I have heard that Mac is way better than Windows.

I recently switched from Windows to Mac. Document formats are not a problem to me as I purchased Microsoft Office for Mac. My productivity now went up 4x. Also, Mac is more stable and secure than Windows (as per my experience).

I love my Mac and I don't want to go back to Windows again . But then, its a matter of choice. Despite of the pros and cons in both operating systems, some will always like Windows, and some will always like Mac.

I've always used Macs, and have no intention of switching to Windows. My parents are both into heavy graphics/video work and Apple computers were always around. I've tried to use Windows many times, and it just never "flows" the same way - it feels like it is hindering my use instead of being a good tool and just getting the heck out of the way while letting me do my work! :p

There are some resources/tools that are not available to those on Macs - which can get annoying - but they are quickly catching up.

I grew up on Macs and miss them fiercely sometimes, but I find I rely too heavily on Windows programs to switch back. I am gradually working to move to web-based programs so perhaps someday I, too, can own a shiny new Mac. /wish

I use MAC exclusively, since 2006, I started out here on the Warrior Forum, in 1999, I was running Borland softare, and Visual Studio, when my windows computer started crashing over and over again, it was a big problem.

Eventually, I had so many issues with the windows operating system, that I ended up having to reformat my drive, (and even after backing up the hard-drive,) I could not then retrieve my data, I lost all my work, all my website logins, including the Warrior Forum login and passwords, email addresses, everything.

About that time I went to work as a technical consultant for Bellsouth and ATT, so I really lost touch with the Warrior forum for a long while, when I came back in 2000, I found that I could not remember my login, my email, and my password, so instead of trying to prove who I was I just created a new account.

I lost a lot because of an unstable, development environment, was that my fault?

When I switched to MAC, I noticed a huge difference right away, I was able to do more in less time, in fact the WSO I just posted this last week was developed entirely on a MAC...

The fact of the matter is I dont need windows, ...

I find that the most important thing I can say about this subject, I just dont need it, and I don't miss it, Yes its different, Yes it will challenge your pre-conceived notions that computing has to be hard and difficult.

But if you are willing to put some time and effort into un-learning bad methods of computing, you will find that owning a MAC will free your mind...

Nearly everyone will prefer what they are familiar with. It really doesn't matter and often the arguments against one over the other are based on ignorance anyway. The interfaces for most software - where your production actually occurs - are practically identical on both operatings systems anyway.
