Why are you really doing Internet Marketing?

Fellow warrior,

What's the main reason you are doing Internet Marketing?

  • Is it a passion?
  • Is it because of the pleasures of being self-employed and freedom from some nagging boss?
  • Is it the last option for you after you failed terribly in other forms of businesses?

#2 I love the flexibility of working for me, building my dreams instead of building someone else's dreams.

Also #1. It is a passion to map my own course in life, and to build the future that I believe myself capable of living.

My main reason is great interest in the IM, and the feeling of being successful.
Plus this can fill in alot of time i have in my hands since I am on holidays from studying at the moment

        I'm not doing "Internet Marketing".

        I'm doing marketing.

The Internet just happens to be where a large percentage of my potential customer and clients are.

I don't do IM full-time like many here. By virtue of being in the military, I really couldn't, even had I wanted to, because of being bound to a contract. I do well in the U.S. Military, though, but IM brings in a little extra a month residually to offset several bills and payments. It's something I've enjoyed working on, and growing, in my spare time (although, I admit, I have very little of that right now with the drawdown in Iraq going on).

I guess my main reasons of working towards a IM based career is:
    - I want freedom, im a big advocate of doing what you want in life.
    - I dislike working for other people.
    - I feel like im in a cage when im at work (no matter what job it is)
    - I have always wanted to work from home !

I guess I fall into the same boat pretty much with financial freedom I haven't seen much money flying my way yet, but I know my efforts will be worthwhile eventually! Along with the "I don't want to have a boss," while I don't see myself at a job for a while, I thought getting into internet marketing might help me in the long-run to help out my family since they just invested themselves in a business, and I don't want to place additional burdens on them with my needs

For me it is the passion - I love internet marketing and never get bored of it. I am constantly thinking up new things to do in the business.

I also love the flexibility I can go out for lunch whenever I want to and the same applies for holidays etc.

I dont have kids but if I did I would call it the best way to be with the kids and work.

For me Internet Markerting is the lowest cost/risk business you can launch successfully and over a short period of time, compared to a conventional brick and mortar business. I addition, the flexibility allows you to continue your normal full-time job and doing it on a part-time basis. The best however, is about all the people you meet and the networking on a global basis, which can really take your business to higher levels with increased profits.

For me it started out being all about (personal/financial) FREEDOM. For me and especially my family (I wanted to give something back). To never again have to worry about paying the bills and getting food on the table, but to spend more time with the people you love.

Creating products have in time become one of my great passions.

    What other job lets you:

    - gain new valuable knowledge for each product you create
    - in absolute control of the development / research phrase, method and hours?
    - actually help people by figuring out what they need and how to deal with it, by simply sharing your knowledge, and presenting it in a way that covers their needs?

And for the few who is persistent and sees failure as an obstacle you just have to overcome, it IS an almost unlimited goldmine.

Really, it's because it's the best job. You grow as a person through teaching and synthezing new information, you always refine your skills and discover new exciting ways to optimize, you get to make a difference and nothing is as satisfying to me as happy customers and learning from their feedback. You learn a great deal about people, life .. and yourself.

      (i) I don't want to work for someone else, rather than for myself;

      (ii) I need the physical convenience of not having to "go out to work" and being able to work from anywhere;

(iii) I want to build up an asset-based business which I own and can choose to sell in future, if I decide to.

In troof, Pops sez it's cuz i got bad jeens and am to dillyturee 2 keep my a Job dawn.

Just kiddin' ... pretty much for most of the reasons already mentioned above: freedom, assets, etc., with a touch of "laziness" and an aversion to authority thrown in for good measure (I dislike acting on bad ideas when other people have made them on my behalf ).

Plus, what few short-lived jobs I've had since leaving school have been 100% effective at sapping away any zest I might have felt for life, along with any sense of self-fulfilment I might otherwise have earned from my work. Being a cog in a machine owned and operated at others' behest, treated like a piece of crud and entrusting my income security to those who don't care for me as much as I do, all for "their" disproportionate benefit, isn't for me.

I am really doing Internet marketing for:

    1) The flexibility that it offers. The one thing that really hits me is that life is entirely too short to miss important moments just because you cannot schedule the time off while working a traditional job. When events come up, I want to be able to go wherever my heart takes me and still make money no matter where I am.

    2) Working for myself. Just like with a flexible scheduling, IM allows me to not have to answer to anyone else. Also, I do not have to worry about earning a "raise" or anything of the likes because how much I earn depends purely on my determination.

    3) Pride. Although many people scoff at IMers and say things like, "So when are you going to get a real job?", my own family has been very supportive of what I am trying to accomplish. Even today, when I was telling my younger brother of what I'm doing or trying to do to become successful, he actually responded, "You'll have to show me how to do that sometime!" It really made me feel proud of what I'm doing, and I want to continue doing what I truly feel passionate about.

I do it for a few reasons, but these are some of the big ones...

--Flexibility. I'm in university right now, and I'm also a traveller at heart. Short-term part-time jobs would be the only answer for me. No, thanks.

--Being my own boss. My first full-time job did not end well, as I've discussed before. :p I ended up having nervous breakdowns and kickstarting a spell of depression that lasted a few years. I'd rather not get into that situation again.

--Helping people. In every job, I've found my interactions with people to be one of the best parts of the job, especially in tech support. Being able to serve as an expert and educate others is a wonderful feeling, and it gives me a lot of joy to know that others use my information, services, and products and find them useful.

Oh, and using my talents and passions feels awesome, too. I've finally found a way to make a living studying, crafting, and interacting with language. How cool is that?

Well, see, I have this valuable information which I've packed up into a product.

And there are people out there who want this information and are willing to pay for it.

And "internet marketing" is how I make these people aware of my product.

Internet marketing is a connection from stuff people want to the people who want it. You do it because you have stuff people want. That's it. That's all. That's what it's for. If you're doing anything else with it, you're completely missing the point and probably not making any money.

I have been in traditional business for over 30 years, helping build multi million dollar companies for other people.

I now feel that it is my turn and where else can you start a business with little or no upfront cost and really turn it into anything you want as long as you are willing to work for it.

I also believe that the internet is still in it's infancy stages and there will be many millionaires created over the next few years in this industry. I for one intend to be one of them.

So, to answer your question, I would also like to say that it is the freedom that it offers. You can work from anywhere and work your own hours, but remember you still have to WORK !!!

While I still hold my day job I am now working on building online income because I am diagnosed with a disease that may one day render me unable to hold a *normal* job. When that day comes to pass I need to be able to take care of myself and provide for my family.

I am new here so I think this is a good thread to mark it as my no 1 post.

For me Internet Marketing has been a hobby.

I had the bless to have a grandfather who had been taking care of my since I was 8 years old - I never met my parents. That wonderful grandpa kept the last surprise for me after his death. I got a call from a lawyer who told me that grandpa had secured $10K for me monthly for the next 20 years. I almost fainted of course Anyway... God bless him.

I had been lurking online studying ebooks, courses on IM, so I have a fair knowledge or everything and I am now going to start producing my own products.

Thus for me it's just the lifestyle - I hate sleeping early in the morning and like surfing both online and offline.

Freedom baby! It's all about freedom.

I do alright in the day job. It's crazy - I make 10x my earnings at work (I'm just pulling in a few hundred a month right now) but that doesn't matter.

When I do affiliate marketing it's on my terms. It's for my benefit. It's my rules and if I fail or win it's because of me.

I remember getting the first check. It was for around ~$150 and I was so happy. Meanwhile work was direct depositing $2,000 and I couldn't care less. I actually hate the work money and love the affiliate money.

    Weird?

The affiliate check meant everything. It's bringing me closer to freedom. I hate working 9 to 5. I hate filing status reports, cranking out excel spread sheets and listening in meeting after meeting.

When my income is diversified and I've got things under me on solid ground I'll gladly quit this job and work for myself for much less money.

Heres one for most of you guys, now you see your succesful, do you actually wind down at all? I just cant seem to stop!

My dream was to go to the gym, sip coffee do some work, come home do a bit more etc etc.

Now I find myself working more than ever, tried the above for a while and just got a bit stale, now I earn more enough for me to live on and provide for my employees I find im looking for the next thing to give me a buzz!

I think I'm more in it for that sense of acheiving something from nothing. Thats sense of fulfilment that you have built your own route where their is no i9nstruction book, no 9-5, you make it happen or it dosnt happed! I really thrive on that feeling.
