You DO NOT need any plugin for embedding Youtube videos. Since wordpress 3.0, Youtube autoembed as well as many other sites embedding was already available in wordpress. Just enter the youtube video link and it will be autoembeded. You can set the maximum video width as per your theme in Dashboard-->Settings-->Media. I feel weird when I see so many threads all over the web on which plugin or how to embed youtube videos properly whereas it is available by default. Before it was available (i.e. during wordpress 1.x and 2.x) I used Vipers Video plugin which was also cool and gave many other features such as cool players and borders etc.

You may want to check Traffic Video Player. There are lots of video player skins to choose from as well.

Why don't you want it on YouTube?

You can make the video unlisted so it is not displayed on YouTube, but you can still embed it on your site.

Hey Barry I think the OP, hasn't got video hosting, therefore is using YouTube as a free host. But I think the OP is having trouble taking the video of the YouTube search as you suggested.

OP, tick the box in the settings to have the video(s) unlisted and they will not come up if you search for them.

Try WordPress › Simple FLV « WordPress Plugins - a very small and easy to use plugin. It plays both FLV and MP4 video formats and allows you to link the player window to a specified URL (optional). In other words, if someone clicks the player's screen, your URL will be opened in the new browser window.

Easy Video Player is the best. I have found as well. You need an account to use it however. WordPress › EasyVideoPlayer 2.0 « WordPress Plugins
