Aweber is the best autoresponder. I've tried some AR and I found that Aweber is currently the best.

Have you tried feedburner on a wordpress blog for building
      a subscriber list.

I read about a guy who cancelled his aweber account for feedburner
thats why I posted this thread.

That is cool. Thank you all very much. This is quite useful information for me as I am a regular user of WP.

Aweber. I set up several auto responders that are good for a few weeks. No need for me to do anything else except adapt and update, and create more. It's also perfect for last minute things I need to send out.

Correct me if I am wrong but with feedburner you can not interact with your "list" directly.

You do have a "list" so to speak but with feedburner you are really limited to how you can use it.

I think the best is Aweber. More professional too with great help from their tutorials.

    How about BOTH!

RSS Feed subscribers are CRITICAL to getting repeat visits to your blog. And Aweber subscribers are CRITICAL to building a massive email list and ultimately a huge asset that will pay you forever.

There is a way to do it in the code that you can configure them to both actions from one opt in. Just be sure to treat your list nice and dont spam

You are comparing apples with oranges, when in fact they're both useful because they do different things. If you have a constantly updating blog, interaction with your rss feed subscribers can lead into loyal visitors and at the same time, you can build a list at aWeber and send out occasion newsletters selling products / services to them

Both software are unique and respectively different. Can't compare the both honestly.

Dont' compare Feedburner with Aweber please..

Aweber is the best and feedburner is the worst product from google. (Its been acquired by google and kept untouched for a long time)

      Another vote for AWeber.

Hey, you need subscribers to your feed and those are great, but the money won't come from that. You need them on your list. Two totally different things.

AWeber has a pretty decent plugin for Wordpress that I use which allows me to display my opt-in form but also prompts for a sign up when a visitor posts a comment.

My advice is to use AWeber and fully integrate it into your Wordpress. Your feed should actually be a kind of "pre-sale" for your opt-in list if that makes sense.

i agree with MatthewNeer on this - use both.

Aweber as your main opt-in form to build your own list that you have full control over and use feedburner to get people to subscribe via RSS if they want to.

if, however, i was only allowed to have one on my site i would go for aweber because it gives you full control over the database and you can do a lot more with it like add your own broadcast/follow-up messages...feedburner will only distribute new posts on your blog which can be a bit limited sometimes.

Is it possible to merge your RSS feed with your Aweber account? I mean, when someone subscribes to the RSS feed, he/she also gets subscribed to my Aweber newsletter.

      hey Don

not that i know of. but what you can do is link it the other way around i.e. link your RSS feed to your aweber autoresponder so that whenever you publish a new blog your aweber will mailout about it by pulling the content from the RSS. the options are inside aweber to set this up.

    I use both.

Feedburner is useful because it will send notification of new posts to all subscribers. You can also monetize it with Adsense which could bring a useful extra income. I would use Feedburner if you update your blog regularly (say once a day). It is free but you can only broadcast what is on your blog

AWeber is used to build a subscriber list. Think of using it as a newsletter which you can send to your subscribers regularly but the contents of said newsletter do not have to appear online.... you can also send out "broadcasts' to your list when you have something useful to offer.

And as previously stated you can combine your feed burner feed with your AWeber account and have the 'best of both worlds' for one subscription. This has to be a subscription to AWeber though which will cost you . When you setup your list go to "Messages' and then "Blog Broadcast" and follow the instructions ....

i would convert your normal default RSS feed into a feedburner RSS feed so you can see more stats and monetize the feed. it also then allows people to subscribe to RSS updates via email.

feedburner won't do that unless you tell it to - i believe...

but what i think previous response was alluding to was -
use your feedburner feed to feed your aweber blog broadcast?

Another awesome feature of Aweber is that it can convert your blog posts into a newsletter for your email list. As you probably know, newsletters are one of the ways you can convert your mailing list into cash.
