What have you found to be the MOST difficult method of making online?

I know most threads on this forum talk about ways to make money and the best ways to make money. But I thought it would be interesting to hear from Warriors who have tried various ways to make money...and which method they found to be the MOST difficult to make money from.

For me, I've found BLOGGING to be the most difficult. It is time consuming, and takes a lot of time to network (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and in many cases, a lot of time to create solid content. Or maybe I'm just lazy. Of course, I know if people stick with it, it can snowball and once you have established high traffic levels, money can be easy (through Adsense, paid advertising, etc.)

Easiest way has been ebooks for me. Once you create one, and you get a winning piece of sales copy, combined with the right ad for traffic, it will work like a well oiled machine.

In your personal experience, what was the most difficult method for you?

Affiliate marketing. I just plain suck at it. This is largely because I simply can't find enough good products to promote, and when I do find one it takes too long to evaluate it.

Recently, I signed up for an affiliate launch that was going out on a Monday. Review copies were going to be mailed out on Saturday. I said cool, that gives me all day Sunday to evaluate the product, write a reliable and honest review, and add a bonus which will deliver real value to the buyer. Then at launch time on Monday, I can mail right at release and nobody can swoop in with a big list and snap up all the potential customers.

Well, sort of. What actually got delivered on Saturday was a pair of sample videos from the product. So while I could look at those videos and say "these are quite good," I didn't know the full content of the product, couldn't vouch for the entire method, and didn't get an opportunity to see the whole package until launch. So at launch, I bought a copy of the product myself, went through some of the videos, read one of the PDF guides, but never actually found the time to review the whole thing. So now, instead of promoting a WSO, all I actually managed to do was buy one.

But just imagine if I didn't give a crap! If all I did was build the biggest list I could, and mail out vague blind-copy emails that said nothing at all about the product. Hell, I'm sure I lose sales because people actually have to READ my reviews to know what they say because it isn't "CLICK HERE BUY NOW GO GO GO." Why, if I just stopped trying to do a good job, I could promote anything in just a couple of minutes!

There's probably a lot more money in that, too... but somehow, it just feels scummy and crappy and I refuse to do it. I'll probably get a lot of advice here on "how not to get caught," but it's not my reputation I'm concerned about - the things you do make you who you are. The kind of person who mails "CLICK HERE BUY NOW GO GO GO" is not a person I want to be. It doesn't matter whether anyone else knows I'm that person; I will know it, and that is plenty bad enough for me to avoid it.

Same here, I'm not good at affiliate marketing either. Creating my own products or reports has been easier and far more lucrative.

I found using Facebook ads to drive to cpa offers damn impossible to get working. I never even made a "sale" using this technique.

Agree with you guys. Blogging is ... not for lazy people like I am. I wasted almost one year. Maybe i shouldnt say that it's wasted time, because i learned a lot, but i didnt earn a lot.

I'm glad i stopped this in right time and start to selling services. In 2 weeks i have earned more than in one year with blogging ;-)

Anything involving safelists, traffic exchanges, or what have you.

Pretty much a whirlwind of clueless newbies promoting their links to other clueless newbies. The only thing that ever gets clicked on are Free Shiny Things (usually reports on how to make a million dollars overnight - or better yet, Yet Another Traffic Exchange to promote how to make a million dollars overnight) - and if you're LUCKY, somebody will buy the One Time Offer. But......... that's it. Even if you do get lucky with this method, there's no growth or expansion.

It's a bad idea... Just Say No.

Affiliate marketing. I find that it's harder and harder to get people to click on your link. Even if it is a great product and I have written a decent and honest review (I learned this the hard way - writing "click here" scammy stuff doesn't work anymore. Thankfully.) people are very cautious. Well I guess that we need to change a bit too.

Although a few guys said here that they had found blogging to be the hardest to crack - but also in the long run I think it's worth it. Reputation does and will matter.

I also agree with Facebook ads to CPA offers and link building as mentioned above.

I would also add PPV to the mix as well.

As far as backlinks, now with Google's Panda, link building may not be as relevant anyway. Of course, solid backlinks that are highly related to your site will always be crucial I think.

Gee thanks. Maybe that's my problem. I chose blogging. Ugh! It is time consuming. I have been thinking of writing my own product in my niche though. I am just not sure how to give a great sales copy and really get it promoted. But its my next step in this business so I better get it figured out.

This is the same thing as "what is the easiest way to make money online"... it depends on you, yourself and no one else except you...

For example, CDarklock said he sucks at affiliate marketing, which is one of the easiest way of making money online for me... on the other hand, I suck at video marketing, while someone is making an easy killing with videos... those are just quick examples...

Remember... what works for me might not work for you... also, what doesn't work for me might work for you...

If you have given it plenty of effort and it's just not working, switch to other methods. Eventually you will find your method that works. But each will take some patience for sure.

The most difficult way for me to earn money online was creating a content site and then trying to convert the traffic into dollars. Infact in some cases it was difficult for me to get enough traffic to my 50 page content site and then monitor the conversion rate of every page to make sure that every page was converting well, making sales and giving me good lead conversion rate.

I decided to change my model and instead of driving seo traffic to my content site I decided to drive direct clicks to my squeeze page and build a list.

This model helped me in several ways...

    1. I had a predictable source of traffic as I started focusing on driving direct traffic from articles than waiting for Google to give me the traffic all day long.

    2. I knew the conversion rate of my squeeze page as I just had to track the conversion rate of one single page than doing tracking of hundreds of pages.

    3. I knew the estimate leads I will get every day and I also knew the estimated profits I will earn every month.

It simply gave me control. In short I had the remote control to do a certain amount of work every day, get a certain amount of leads and my site would make a certain amount of profits.

    4. I stopped relying on search engines for traffic which was a major plus point. However the side effect of my system is that I get traffic from search engines and I enjoy that traffic because I consider that as a free bonus rather than relying on it completely.

    5. I started doing all my selling and promotion through my emails and building relationship with my leads. It is fun when you are building a community where you send them a message and you get hundreds of people who are waiting to hear from you if you give them valuable information...

Trying to sell ClickBank-type informational products without building a list.

Not only is it pretty difficult, but it's futile, silly, wasteful, grotesquely misguided and a large number of other negative-sounding adjectives. I'm embarrassed now that I ever tried it at all.

    The most difficult?

Affiliate Marketing (even worse: CPA) with Adwords

Not only does Google put 100x hurdles in your way and cans your ads/accounts because you are an affiliate - the bids are also crazy and the payouts way too low to even remotely think that affiliate marketing (clickbank etc.) and Adwords would be a good way to make money.
