Hi All!

I just had a query regarding 301s and how long you've had to wait for SERPs to be updated for the new URL.

Before when I've placed 301s the SERPs have maybe disappeared for 2/3 days then popped back with the new URL.

I recently changed my permalinks and then 301ed all the old urls to the new (on the same domain). I did this on the 19th December 2011 (rankings dropped a day later) and the SERPs still haven't come back. I've checked the redirects with an online checker but I'm still waiting for the rankings to come back.

How long have you waited before for a 301 to sort itself out? I'm thinking about changing back soon as losing money is no fun

Hi, unfortunately as you know, there is no fixed time that it takes for the SERPS to come back with the new URL. It depends on a number of factors, mainly how quickly Google crawls your website and what your ranking is. You were pretty lucky that your previous sites got reSERPed within 2-3 days. I've seen cases where it takes over ten days to happen. You've made it pretty long without SERPs, I wouldn't recommend going back now. It shouldn't take too much longer. Happy waiting!

Takes 2 days on my latest sites. When I noticed several 404 crawl errors on my webmaster tool, I applied 301 redirects to fix it. After this I ping my website and after 2 days, Google SERP comes up with my new URLs.

Normally I see a similar sort of thing a well rhorobins, this time round seems like it is taking a lot longer though. I've moved as many links as I could over to the new URLs so hopefully the change will happen soon
