Picnik CLOSING DOWN? One of the biggest photo editing sites CLOSING DOWN!

I had an email a few hours ago saying picnik is closing down...

I went on http://www.picnik.com/ and it's closing down in April!

Why is this happening? Picnik is one of the biggest photo editing sites?

    May be somebody said with Picnic U can edit copyrighted images...So shut it down under SOPA.

    Well, it's owned by Google and it seems Google are trying to get people to move to Google Plus.

    They have also recently started adding you to Google Plus automatically, if you create any type of account on Google. Earlier, you had the option to choose another e-mail ID to create a Google account. They are aiming for tighter integration, from what it looks.

    Amazing photos are created in Picnik so we have launched a new feature,Picnik Takeout, that easily downloads your photos to your desktop in convenient zip files. You may also elect to copy your photos to Google+ where you can store and share your creations.     Oh no! I love picnick; it is so easy to use and I can do almost all of my photo editing there. So now I'm left with Gimp, which is great but not picnick. Or else I'll need to go learn how to use photoshop! :-(

    Picnik is moving its easy yet powerful photo editing tools to Google+.
    They are moving, not closing. Just like
    and FB app.

    Also, you can try Pixlr as an alternative.

    I've used picknik for years. to bad they are closing down.

    I heard google owns them now, but I don't get why they would buy them and just shut it down.

    Maybe a revamp is in the works.

    Any good alternatives out there?

    I do not know much about the site, no matter how great it is bottom line if it is not making money the owner will shut down

    Maybe also it is part of this whole SOPA thing and there are some copyright infringement??

    Google is desperate to get people into Google+ (and to actually use it).

    Someday you may need a Google+ account to search on Google.
