Tips on Developing Banner Ad for Site?

I am trying to create a banner ad for my site and am looking for online tools to do so. I am not going to be cheap about it and don't insist on using a free tool. One of the free tools I have used was ineffective and I would be happy to pay for a banner generation tool if I needed. However, I only want to pay for tools that are worth what I am paying for.

Any tips would be much appreciated.

    Why not xheader, you can try it free first then go pro. I think it is made by site build it. Not for sure, I outsource all my graphics now.

    Just bear in mind a lot of the online banner tools or software programs will create banners that look like banners. This is NOT what you want.

    If you want a banner that is effective then you can easily put it together yourself using a free online graphics program such as: Sumo Paint | Online Image Editor

    In regards to what type of banners you should be creating, think simple and ugly. Look at all the banner ads at the top of the Warrior Forum. They are good examples to start with. Anything that looks like a banner will usually not work very well because no one will click on it. Make the banner appear as though it is content on the page.

    I have used bannerfans.com/banner_maker.php on a few sites. Makes a good rudimentary

    Thank you all your assistance. I actually really liked the Sumo Paint one so that is the one I adopted. I might have to check the others out later if I need a more generic banner one though.
