Emails from my site get blocked

Hey I have a social blog site that has been custom built and is hosted on a new IP. The email notifications from the site as well as the confirmation email sent out when people join up all seem to get blocked by Hotmail and Gmail. Any ideas how to stop this happening. The sire is bongal.com

I had a problem similar to this when responding to gmail accounts from my main domain. My host says it has something to do with spam filters on various mail servers thinking that a high percentage of Gmail accounts are spam.

My host did some magic that fixed the problem. I would suggest you start there. Send a complete copy of a blocked email with headers to your host's support team.

Someone else may be able to offer more technical help, but that's what I did.

You can sign-up to third party SMTP services. You can still send your emails through your host or server but you'll be using an authority SMTP site to deliver it.

Doing this will remove the headaches of reputation management and increase the percentage of your emails getting into inboxes of your list.
You can try SendGrid, Jango etc. etc.

See if your server is blacklisted: Email Blacklist Check - See if your server is blacklisted

You can check to see if your server meets the SPF requirement: use the previously mentioned website, or SPF Query Tool

Also test your outgoing emails to see if they will be earmarked as spam: Free Online Spam Test

Or, use a third-party email service.
