We have a great product and we need your ideas on how to market it.

So this is a product we are about to launch (currently is in private beta). Here is how it works, this is an application that helps let you create a deal on your facebook page, this deal becomes viral using auto sharing techniques, is a group deal and it expires in x amount of time. We don't take any of your money, as a matter of fact this is free for now.

We have several ideas, we want to let users try it for free so it spreads faster, however, we have an argument that if we don't charge people won't use it.

What are your recommendation on the feermium model, do people value free?

What experiences do you have on creating viral campaigns for merchants/people who want more sales and facebook likes?

It is definetly a great idea to market something about facebook in facebook itself... If you've designed it to be viral, then promoting it in facebook is the best way to do it. It can go viral in FB easily... However, it is a common knowledge that apps easily go viral in FB if it's free. So you might want to give it out for free on a limited days trial...

    PHASE 1:
Allow the first 100 people to use it for free. You say above that "this deal becomes viral using auto sharing techniques" so expose people to this and see what happens.

    PHASE 2:
Advertise through these 100 users that anyone can try it out for their first deal. But only for a limited time.

    Hey Wish,

    Nice site, great design.

My advice - go freemium - test response - address any bugs - add or subtract features per user requests - AND THEN - figure out a pricing model based on your freemium trial.

I would probably set a free trial limit that is statistically relevant to you in order to gather solid feedback and act based upon what your users tell you. For example, ask each free trial if/what/how they would pay for a similar service in the future.

The great thing about the web, to me, is that you can ask people exactly what they will buy, and then make your product fit that description.

    Hope that helps.
