Hi there,

Could I please ask your advice? Which cover do you think would convert better?

Thanks,

Go with the girl. The flower might be a little too subtle for most.

I totally agree with John. Even though I personally prefer the flower, the masses will relate much better to the girl, I think.

I would go with the second one. It has a better vibe in my opinion.

Probably the girl, but the only way to know for certain is to test it.

I failed to make a connection with the words and flower image immediately, and puzzled at fat = thin, perhaps this is/was the intention to encourage someone to read more, if it is it will probably work. :-)

I agree what is the point of fat = thin? I think I would place a thin girl with the flower have you thought about combining these. Its the idea that you will be more appealing thin.

        Claire,

That's why that title was chosen. It really stops and makes you think.

The concept behind the book is that if you are fat, you got there by the way you think and that required power. If you change the way you think, you can become thin, which is just changing the way you apply your power.

The flower images were chosen to show the change of state from a bud to a beautiful flower, but John McCabe is right. The message is too subtle so we will probably go with the girl.

However I will test it with both covers and see which gets the better results. I am releasing this as a Kindle version.

One last point Diana, unless I am mistaken that is a pea flower, not normally renowned for their longevity, perhaps a more robust species would be more appropriate, just my 2c :-)

          aaaaah... now I get it.

Her's me thinking that it was some new fad diet whereby you lose weight by eating flowers. Silly me!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but on Kindle, your cover and title are like a good headline. You don't want to make people think too much.

It should be obvious what the book is about, within seconds.

If I'm at Borders browsing around with a cup of coffee and a sunny afternoon...sure.

          But, in my own experience...

When I'm on my Kindle, I'm usually in an "on the go" mode, I'm on the internet...I'm in the internet mindset.

It helps if there's reviews, and if the book is found in "also bought", but for the most part, I don't want to have to "figure" too much out...

I'm just looking to press the button, and git to gittin!

Most likely the girl - as people respond to images of people quite well.

I would go with the girl. In my experience, images of people tend to get more responses. Still, I agree that you might want to test it first...you never know. That flower is in the running for a reason, so you might have found something that can be that 1% that makes more sales...
    Best wishes!

In all seriousness... don't make the title too cute or ambiguous. Everything should present as the main benefit for the reader.

Can u email me a synopsis of the book?

My understanding with advertising, it's not good to "make them think" the more thinking you let a customer do..the more likely they are to realize they don't actually need what you're selling, and move on. I've been taught it's better to do the thinking for the customer, tell them exactly why your product is awesome.

One more vote for that girl. It took me couple of extra seconds to figure out how that flower pic relate to that title. It(flower) is actually a very smart combination, but too subtle to catch at the first glance as someone already mentioned.
