This might open a can of worms....BUT

    2. Just Get It Done -- Even If It Isn't Perfect

Ya, how many times have you bought a crap script that don't work then they try to make fixes on the fly... Look at butter fly marketing script... Still have never got it to work. and many others...

    Bad Advice number two

    4. Loyalty Breeds Success

He was not loyal to the guys who came up with the ideal... That is like says Bill Gates was loyal to Steve Jobs... Common Loyalty my arse

      Agreed! LOL

      I like these ones:

      5. Live below your means
Good advice, but not hard when you own facebook. LOL

Why does everyone assume making a lot of money automatically means you want to move from the residence you like into some monstrosity of a house?

      4. Loyalty breeds success
Yes, especially if it is your loyalty and Zuckerberg's success LOL

Not bashing Z or facebook, but c'mon these articles trot out the same tired old 'principles' of rich people and success with each new media darling.

I see your point, but I wouldn't call them "tired old principles" if they still work. I only brand principles tired when they stop delivering the goods.

        Just sayin'

  • Personally I think Zuckerberg is different to the average person that is successful.
Why I say this, is that success is often mistake for talent and being lucky, but usually it comes from believing in yourself and working damn hard. Now I'm not suggesting that Mark doesn't have these two traits, but I think he is genuinely one of those people that is just so intelligent he was always going to do well.
If he didn't work for himself, he'd be an IT director at some huge company earning a fortune anyway.

Yes, he works hard etc, but I think he was always going to do well

Thanks for the article. It doesn't matter what the name in the article is, the steps are always the same. Follow your passion and do what you want to do. Don't forget doing it the best as you can.

do what most highly successful people do, either a) take someone else's idea outright and beat them to the market, or b) take someone else's idea, modify it slightly, market it better, and outsell them. (the latter, which is what zuckerberg did, is much more common.)

2 common misconceptions about very successful companies:
      1) they must have an original idea/product/service.
      2) a high percentage of people must want their product or service. (this may or may not be the case, as often all that is needed is a conversion rate that's profitable (frequently as little as 1.5-2%) and a continual expansion of marketing efforts.)

i'm not suggesting what zuckerberg did is wrong, unethical, deceitful, or anything else, and i'm not suggesting that he isn't ingenious in his approach, but the fact of the matter is that he, like many other successful entrepreneurs, stole the original idea.

    2. Just Get It Done -- Even If It Isn't Perfect

This is SO true!! I can't tell you how many times I've stalled doing thing and ended up losing much more then I would if I just got it done.

    Cool share!

And no1 is good too. I read some place:

"It took me 1 year to create a million dollar business.
It took me 34 years to believe I can make it"

Granted he may have had a debatable beginning. The Federal courts have settled that. But his story is still engaging. You just have to know how to eat the meat and discard the bones of his story. Get in where you fit in, use what you can.

It is a very good read however, it really pisses me off when these lucky pricks become billionaires with a mixture of hard work and screwing others out (Mr. Z hacked harvard's database), and when they're 'successful', they come off nicely preaching the whole world about 'what to do' and 'what not to'.

    /end rant

How he borrowed the original idea or not will always be debatable. But what's most impressive to me is how he handles the pressure cooker that goes with owning one of the largest and most publicized companies on the planet.

Not to mention the media pressure of always being in the public eye. CEO's twice his age with 3 times his experience would never want to face the dreaded "media microscope" like he does.

I'm not sure the Winklevoss twins would want the kind of pressure he's facing. What do you think?

Achieving success is one thing, keeping it (along with your sanity) is a whole different ballgame. So far he has the formula.
