Can It Really Be This Simple?

Ok, There are a dozen ways to make money online and it can become very confusing very fast when you are new and just learning. Compound that with the fact that some things you learn apply to certain methods and others to different ones.

Now, I'm going to touch on just one and probably over simplify it, but I'd like to hear everyone's opinion on it.

1. Do market research. Find a pile of keywords with medium competition that have at least 3,000 searches a month.

The reason I say "3,000" is that if you get half of that, you'd be at about 50 visitors a day. The reason I say "medium competition" is that, realistically, it may not be that easy to find keywords that get 100 visitors a day with low competition.

Obviously, some keywords are better than others. "Buy Cabinet" is going to be more valuable than "How to Buld Cabinet." This can be expounded upon more, but I'll leave it at that.

2. Build pages focused on those keywords. They can be on the same site or multiple ones depending on your approach.

If you keywords are all related, it might be a better long-term approach to build a large authority site. However, if they are all unrelated, you may be able to get a few exact match domain names and want to build niche sites around them.

3. Apply all of the SEO elements, both on-page and off-page, and rank those pages on the first page of Google (much easier said than done!).

4. Analyze your traffic and implement some of the many methods given here to increase the percentage of your visitors who perform an action that makes you money.

5. Observe, Learn, and Scale.

I intentionally left out building a list since that's something that has been touched on so much and could be integrated into this plan in so many ways. You could have the whole page be a squeeze page, or you could only attempt to collect the contact info of the buyers.

Let's look at some numbers. These are all hypothetical, but may give a general idea.

1 page getting 50 views a day with a 1% conversion rate and a profit of $3 a sale will produce about $45 per month. Does that sound about right?

Now, it follows that 100 will be about $4,500 a month.

So, all else being equal, the main thing slowing you down would be SEO, wouldn't it? It's all about how long it would take you to get 100 pages ranking high on the serps.

What do you all think, is this an accurate outline?

Get more than one keyword that is easier to rank for than the 3,000 search keywords.

You have left out a small detail that may be helpful to newcomers.

Make sure your pages are helpful to readers, if you build a site just to make money sooner or later it will get de-indexed, it will be classed as a 'thin affiliate' site, and Google classes these as spam. So make sure it's useful guys.

Thanks for posting that. I thought something like that would go without saying, but I think now that the point is importantenought that it should be stated: Make sure your site is useful!

Not just to avoid the Google slap, but also so that you will contribute to a better user experience. When you have good content, people will stay longer on your site and your bounce rate will go down (which is good for SEO). Also, people will be more apt to buy from you and subscribe to your lists. They will also want to bookmark your page, refer others to it, post about it, etc. The list goes on.

Don't build the site just to make money, build it to make money by helping others solve their problems.

One good SEO tactic is: Guest posting is one great way to promote your niche blogs without displeasing Google or any search engine.

Guest posting is great, but I think it helps your site better from a traffic standpoint than from an SEO standpoint. Sure, getting a link to your site from a high PR authority site will help, but you will also be getting traffic from all of the readers who visit that site and read your article.
