I would recommend chris farrell to teach u the basics. He is currently voted the no.1 internet marketing in teaching beginners to get started. He is the one who taught me and I am beginning to move towards another level. All the basics that you would need will be able to find in his membership site.

Yep I'll second that, Chris's membership site provides incredibly good value for those who are just starting out in IM.
You can't go far wrong there!

Before you fall into the trap of buying everything, I would seriously recommend heading over to viperchill.com and checking out all the content there. I don't often recommend sites, but the quality of freely available content on that site is unmatched IMO. Especially take a look at the posts on keyword research, Wordpress SEO, and backlinking they're exceptional! Can't recommend that site enough.

And then when you feel your ready to start paying for stuff, I would suggest taking a look at Ryan Deiss. He's got a no fluff, pure content approach to internet marketing, and he has some really good stuff especially when your first starting out.

Good luck and it's good to see your dedicated to this!

Please be careful with this - There are many people waiting to suck all the money you have from you (and more).

Be sure that whatever you select that you commit to it, and don't give up when the next email from another "guru" with a sure fire guaranteed to make thousands offer comes in.

On of the main reasons people fail is they don't stick to a system and follow it through to the end, they stop mid way before "the magic" happens.

    Good luck !

Chris is a really nice guy and a very talented teacher with the ability to encourage and explain in great detail basic technical and marketing methods in a very clear way. I also like the guy. My only criticism would be that there seems to be a gap between what you learn and being able to apply that knowledge. What I mean is after the course you may be thinking "what now"?

I have had many frustrations when learning the ropes and I have had many mentors over 7 in total and 5 were from the WF. Some are much better then others. Some were a complete waste of my time and money.

As a good will gesture I am prepared to offer you some free advice and tell you who are the best mentors at the best price. I have no affiliation or financial interest this is purely a good will gesture just to help you as a fellow warrior so that you can avoid some of the frustrations that I have been through in my IM career.

If you would like me to help, you are welcome to PM me with some details about your level of experience and goals and I will give you a free evaluation and advice based on my experience.

I realise that you need 50 posts in order to private message me. If you're interested you can build that up by posting 5 or 10 or 20 posts per day and contact me in a few days from now when you have 50.

That way I will know that you are serious.

    I will PM you now.

I upgraded my subscription here to get access to the private forum and I guess they removed my PM restriction aswell.

Ttrain: Thanks for the link, reading it now and it's great.
Tim: I definitely agree, lots of spammers on here, and thanks for the advice.

Don't let it stop you though. The truth is many people can and do succeed and make a success of Internet Marketing.

I've been full time at it since 2008 since leaving my programming career of 20 years and have enjoyed the journey.

Well, it's really good to hear someone with so much enthusiasm; much better than reading posts from people who say they've been at it for 3 hours now and not made a dime! LOL

I can relate to what you are saying; I used to spent so many nights sitting there till 4 in the morning and getting moaned at by the Wife!

Anyway, like others are saying above, tread carefully because some people just want to prey on the newbies and make money off them.
Chris Farrel isn't one of those guys but he does go very slowly so my advice is if you want to get there quickly, go with another forum or membership.
I actually provide in-house seo services for a popular affiliate training forum and you get guaranteed sales. I'm not here to sell that forum to you but I have found some of the lesser known forums to be much better for newcomers.
    Here's to your success!

    Just a quick update:

After a bit of research I decided to check the Chris Farrell program and was pretty disappointed.

Don't get me wrong, if you are a complete beginner to the web it will be a great program for you, but I found it extremely basic and I don't think I learned anything from it.

Definitely learned more from one of the stickied threads on this forum about keyword research using SEMrush/Google tools than I did on that whole website.

I quickly browsed through all the steps for the 21 day challenge and was surprised at how basic it was. i.e Day 16 is about finding products, I was expecting that to be around Step 1!

I would recommend Chris Farrell to. I have been a member of his site for three months. After several disappointments and spending some money buying products I even was not able to recognize I am satisfied now and feel that I am able to move forward according to my ability level. Video tutorials are suitable for me and I like to be treated with respect and not to be asked to pay more money again and again as it happened in the past with some famous trainers.

Before you do anything I would invest in the War Room.

Plenty of information in there that can make you money.

Also, right here on the WF i'm sure you can find a mentor.

There are plenty of people here making great money in IM everyday.

Ask someone can you be their shadow for about a month.

I bet you will learn a whole bunch.

        Good Luck

Just a quick heads up here, a product should be "down the list". Definitely not a step 1.

Many people jump straight to product selection missing out many other important steps - Market research for one.

What about how your site is going to be structured? How are you going to get traffic?

What about deciding on the niche you think you can offer the best value to your visitors in first?

Product selection should never be a step 1.

Well I found a product to sell on Amazon through a good bit of research and designed my own website in photoshop and have coded it in HTML/CSS.

The really difficult part for me is getting it on word press how I want.

Could someone point me out to some good tutorials for this purpose as I feel like I have hit a sticking point.

I have thought about using a theme but honestly, I'd rather just be able to make my own.

I have nothing to do for the next 12 months except dedicate all my time to this, its a risk I am willing to take.

If anyone could also recommend other must read products/ebooks that would be a great help.

Thanks for reading and I hope someone will be kind enough to point me in the right direction.
It doesn't sound like you need a mentor.

It sounds like you need more of an accountability partner. Someone to call and report to each week of your progress.

    Hi,
You sound like me! I've got the same determined attitude! I have several mentor coaching programs that I'm on, and suggest you look up John Thornhill. John's made millions online but is still a decent enough bloke to give you an hour of his time for free, and put no pressure on you to join his mentoring scheme. Also, he presents stuff in a really clear, step-by-step no nonsense fashion.
Hope that helps. Oh, and if you find someone better, do let me know!
One bit of advice - don't spend ALL your time reading up. Remember to take action too.
Good luck! And do please keep in contact...

    Marc
