Horrible CTR

Hello Warriors,

Need some help. I am running FB ads catered towards stock market people. My target audience is Men, on FB, who are college grads and who also have an interest in stocks and investing per the FB interests targeted tab. I am running a website where I will sell a monthly research fee. My CTR though is a dismal 0.005 and 0.05 and have only gotten 2 Likes. I use a simple picture of a man with a red border around it and I have used content ranging from "This man made 27% return per month, click to find out how" to "Click Like if you like investing in stocks".

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am looking to build my FB Fan Page to around 10K members and then direct them to my membership site from there AFTER building some trust.

    When using FB ads, make different versions with different pictures and headlines, split test them all and at the end pick the one that performs best and scale it.

      The problem is probably more that your target audience are college grads who probably know a little bit about business, but your ad line leans more towards a get rich quick scheme (which works better on non-college grads). I would try saying something more like "Wanna know which stocks are rising?", or "Tired of doing your own stock market research?"

        Thank you but I plan on selling monthly memberships in $40-$60 range and usually mostly college grads would be willing to pay for this wouldn't they?

    First set a higher age range, like 45 to 65.

    Then come up with a more eye catching image. Everyone is using red border around a face, its starting to blend in.

    If you must use a face use female's face. Like David Ogilvy said
    "Men look at women, Women look at women and babies"

    Target your ads narrowly and split test images.

      Your target audience is great, I meant that you are presenting your service to them wrong. People without degrees are often looking for easy ways to make money, people with degrees are instead looking for a way to either make things easier/ save time. So, focus on the benefits of your service making stocks easier or less time consuming, rather than focusing on that it will make them money. Your target audience assumes that companies like yours will make them money, they want to know what advantage you are offering that is better than every other stock research business.
