Run a competition in your local paper, offer freebies to winner with the best name.

    Free publicity too.

Agree with the contest idea, Short Stacks is a really cute name though too, it could be really good if you tied it into restaurant breakfast specials as well.

Just did a quick TESS search and somebody has Trademarked "The Short Stack Sandwich" as used for a "Breakfast sandwich", for whatever that's worth.

It might be worthwhile to check out any legalities (hint).

You can click the link to save some time...

You may also consider NamingForce or SquadHelp for naming your business. Both have incredibly cheap packages available and you can set the amount of time given to "namers" to help you brainstorm possibilities. They are both crowdsourcing sites, so they are great for tapping into the creativity of a huge number of clever people.

I personally think that Short Stacks is a really clever sounding name for a breakfast and lunch diner. I would vote yes on it.

Interesting topic for an Internet marketing forum... it should probably be in the Offline Marketing section.

The naming of your restaurant is very important, so you may want to consider running a contest like others have suggested. Alternatively, there is branding consultancy. This means that for a fee you will be able to get a good name, tagline and overall brand.

      I'd call it "EATS".

Or maybe "Beth's". Beth's was a legendary restaurant in Seattle. It was the only place to go after a concert. They served 12 egg omelets on top of a platter (an entire platter) of hashbrowns almost 2 inches thick. Ungodly huge.

I wouldn't call it the Poo Ping Palace (a restaurant in Sunland, CA.)

But the point? I doubt the name matters. If you have good food with reasonable sized portions at a fair price you should be able to be successful. But if you don't, nothing will save you.

    I wouldn't call it Gaylord - it's already taken.

Where does "Short Stacks" come from? I think something like "The Daily Fix" would be good.

A small pile of pancakes is a short stack.
Also, most breakfast/lunch foods are a "short order" (Ie, Short order cook is someone who makes small, simple things like breakfast foods)

I'd like an idea of "Intercontinental food". You are free to use any type of food mexican, indian or traditional western. Also this name will help you expand your business if you decide to create your reastaurant chain.

I'm in Spain. We have a lot of Chinese immigrants, and sometimes their branding is a little off.

There's a Chinese take-away called 'Long Wan King'.

For those of you in the US, 'wanking' in UK English means masturbation.

Apart from... I don't like the word 'Short'. Somewhat negative, as in 'short' change.

Personally, I'd favour 'Brunch' as it's a 'yummy' word and describes your business plan to a T.

    'BrunchStack' ... 'Brunch Stacks' ... 'BrunchStax' . ... 'StackBrunch' ???
