Made a decision, took the leap, need inspiration!

Hey Y'all,

This morning I posted an incoherent question (it was before coffee ) about not knowing what direction to go with IM (I'm still new at this IM stuff).

Well 12 hrs (and a lot of coffee ) later, I've made a decision: I'm gonna crush it as an Amazon affiliate. I purchased Jan Roos' course as well as Chris Guthrie's new wso software (and I also have Market Samurai), and I'm gonna soak those courses up and then git 'er done.

My goal is to be netting 5k per month CONSISTENTLY by New Years Eve 2012.

Is my goal doable??

It would be great if anyone else reading this could share their experiences (earnings, advice, etc) as encouragement!...

Thanks guys...and gals!

Mike in Texas

Hi Mike! I do not have much advice in terms of being an Amazon Affiliate, but I know for a fact that 5K a month is very do-able! You will find lots of people on WF who are crushing it with Amazon sales!

Just remember that you can accomplish ANYTHING with hard work and determination! We're all in this together

I think that is great! And yes, it is 100% doable. Easy? Maybe not, but doable? Absolutely.

I think that you will need to take what you learn and obviously, utilize, but you can and will get there.

I am not a 100% hardcore Amazon affiliate but I do use it and I make decent money from it. Good luck!

Make sure to ask questions! Everyone here is so helpful!

Yes we all love updates so please let us know! Make sure to set yourself measurable goals, and break it down into small bitesize chunks to eventually achieve your goal! for instance $5k a month is $166 per day and to get $166 per day you have make x amount of sales and all that jazz. Then possibly a monthly tracking chart of say $10 a day by next month, and slowly upscale.

      Good Luck!!

Hey Mike - just to ram it home to you that Yes! 5k is very achievable!

Just bear in mind that there will be obstacles in your way and you will have bad days online but you just have to grit your teeth and persevere.

Before rushing out and doing a million things at once take 30 mins, have another coffee and start jotting out a plan. You've mentioned where you'd like to be by the end of 2012 but break it down further....

What are your 9 month goals, 6 months, 3 months, 1 month, and weekly. Try and plan each week ahead so that you will make best use of your time (believe me your productivity will skyrocket with a well structured plan) and remember to "Plan tomorrow Today"

It can all be overwhelming in the beginning but once you have a plan and keep on top of it things become easier and results come faster! Best of luck with it and keep us posted with how your doing

Do some research on the affiliate Nexus law to ensure your state (if you're US) isn't looking into implementing it.

If the Nexus law passes in your state Amazon can (they did with my state for example) and most likely will terminate all affiliate accounts for residents of your state. Your income would vanish overnight.

Stay positive, and remember that attitude is everything!! 5K is very doable, but don't get discouraged if it takes some time to meet your goal. Continue taking action and moving forward, and you will be fine. Gain as much knowledge and understanding about your niche as possible, and be flexible. If you try something that doesn't seem to be working for you, don't give up. Just tweak it, change it up and find out what works best for you. You can do it!!

    Totally doable!

There might be faster ways other than Amazon, but as a newbie, this should be alright as long as you don't have a dramatic need to make money ASAP.

I don't need money asap, but seeing fast(er)results would still be cool. What other ways would you recommend other than Amazon?

Amazon is my absolutely favorite affiliate program and I assure you that $5000/month is very doable and within your time frame. FOCUS will be the key.

Following are some of my favorite resources and inspiration on Amazon success:
Don't get too distracted with those resources, though. Use them when you're feeling stuck but, as someone else mentioned, write out your plan and start working it.

Come up with what I call a publishing routine - put up new content, promote that content with backlinking, put up new content, promote, etc. Sketch out what each week is going to look like for those steps and stick to it!

    Good luck!

You can do it as long as Amazon doesn't decide to "fire" their Texas affiliates like they did in Illinois when our state passed a sales tax law that would have made Amazon pay sales taxes where they have affiliates. That meant goodbye to my Amazon revenues, but fortunately that was not a big part of my revenue stream.

The point is, there is a danger in concentrating your revenue efforts on one particular channel. Any strong business has a diversified revenue base.

Well done on taking the first steps and focusing on one method in the beginning. 5K per month is very doable.

Remember stay focussed and never lose sight of your main goal. Break that goal down into smaller short term goals and set mini deadlines to hit them.

Plan your year ahead with these short term goals and work towards that plan and don't get sidetracked.

    Good luck!

If you built an email list of 5k that should equate to $5k per month in revenue. Have you ever thought about making your own product? Nothing fancy, just an informative ebook about a topic in a niche that interests you?

If you set up a squeeze page and gave it away for free and drove traffic to that page then you will start building a list. If you had an offer page that converts at 50% then you only need to get 100 visitors per day to achieve 50 optins.

3 1/2 months later and you will be hitting your 5k month target. It's a little more complex than that but the basic principle which holds true is : Targeted Traffic ---> Relevant Offer ---> Optins

    Optins + Email Marketing = $$$$$

Hey Mike, Great choice and loving your attitude. I'm new myself and learning. Couple things I'd suggest. There's a LOT of crap products out there so don't get sucked in to the hype of the next greatest WSO. Pick a few and stay focused!

Also, if you can afford it, consider paying for a coach. There might be some disagreement with that but I'm working with a reputable coach that I talk with 2 or 3 times a week. It's expensive but worth it for me.

Ya Geoff you're correct - focus is key in all this. I took the plunge and got myself a mentor not too long ago aswel. I wasn't sure at first whether it could pay off for me but so far so good, and since then I haven't spent any more money of "the next big thing" products to hit the market so I think I'm actually saving money

That's what I tell my girlfriend anyway...keep her off my back!

I think you can make 5k by 2013. But you will have to sell relatively high priced products, or get a ton of traffic and sell about 250 $20 products each month.

Yes, it's possible....if you provide value to your audience. You're going to be wanting to be creating quality sites, not the standard bs affiliate site, if you want to get anywhere in the long term. The algos are shifting greatly and flimsy sites, or even decent sites with crummy links are getting slammed into the affiliate graveyard. Since your model revolves around seo I assume, figuring out how you approach that will be your main challenge. But, good luck to you, and keep focused on your goal.

I think if you keep your focus on the one method you have chosen and just work on that, you should be able to achieve it. Just filter out all the other information and only concentrate to that which relates to being an Amazon affiliate, that way you won't get distracted.

Doing anything to receive your goal of 5,000 a month before the end of the year is very achievable. Remember always stay positive with any new situation or anything you take on to get to your goal. I wish you the best of luck!
