Website Ideas? How To Make Profitable Websites?

Hello warriors, so ive tried making lots of websites. Some have made money, however some have not. I want to make this thread to help not only me but others aswell who are struggling to make profitable websites.

Ive currently made these websites:

- An SEO services website, it made around $150 however it cost more than that to make and promote. So no luck there.

- Ive made a cityville blog (cityville is a facebook game) that made $5000 but now the game cityville isnt as popular and the fanpage for the website which was my main source of traffic got hacked. So no luck there anymore.

- Ive made 2 Micro-Niche websites and so far ive made something stupid like $1, so no luck there.

- Ive made a scripts website and that gets the odd sale here and there but nothing major, maybe $20-$50 per month.

Ive made other websites aswell however ive not really had much luck with them. Ive currently set up a new facebook gaming blog based on all facebook games, thats starting to make money but it only takes around 30 mins per day to manage so im wanting to know more profitable website ideas...

Please Help

Sounds like you did very well with the Cityville blog. Might consider something along those lines - get "ahead of the game" for future and upcoming Facebook games, do your research, and provide information to the public as it releases. Certainly more people will be searching for the game as it comes out, and if you're there (#1 on Google), you're going to be having some nice paychecks. Then, at its peak, you could consider selling it (or rather "them" if you do this regularly as new games are released).

I never relied on google to get traffic to my cityville blog. I relied on social media.

I got a great piece of advice I got yesterday:

Don't worry about creating something completely unique... What you need is something that has a unique mix of topics that other people don't cover. Much like what I did with psychology, marketing, etc

Here is a nice tip. We know businessmen/women have money available to spend.

    Google: Top skills for businessmen.

Everyone wants to improve their skills. It means more money. Pick a skill you like and find out what the top websites are doing, then as above, cover different topics.

Have you tried a membership website? Those are pretty hot and easy to set up with some software.

Can I ask Arran about your Cityville website? How did you go about making money on it? How did you go about setting it up? How did you get members?

    Thanks!

The Cityville blog idea does sound like a great idea! I wonder if you could sell in game items through an affiliate program with Zynga? I could get lots of Likes through my Fiverr connections (I run a Facebook Like website, buyfblikes.ca).

    Mate,

I have to say well done for sticking with it and for the post, most people have big troubles with asking for help however I believe no harm in asking if you find the right answer. I say don't give up keep going!

I think the main thing here is don't throw you're ideas and projects completely out the window instead of saying "No luck there" maybe try thinking about how you can monetize each one and focus on vamping each one up which will bring in the dosh. Try advertising on different websites (forums, web 2.0 sites etc.) and drive traffic back to the sites and things which are already set up.

You have good ideas here, the important thing is to just stick with it.

Good luck and all the best and let me know your thoughts

The best advise I can give you is to:

    1. Make of list of topics you enjoy/spend money on
    2. Create a way to improve/create a new product within the niche
    3. Make a website that sells that product or service.
