What's the solution for Google knowing original author?

Is there an official way for Google knowing who the original author of content is?

I've heard of plugins like PubSubHubbub which notify popular sites as soon as content is posted but I still have the feeling that scrapers and duplicate content will still prevail.

Anyone know what works?

Greatly appreciated

You know, I absolutely LOVE the direction Google is heading...however, knowing who the original author is, is the only "hang up" I have...just how are they going to do that on a consistent basis? Well, I guess they'll figure it out, that's why they have billions and I don't, lol.

If you have a popular site and google comes by often then they will cache yours before theirs...but even though they would cache another page before (scrapers) you can report those pages to google..lastly build solid back links to that page cause scrapers usually just copy and do not build direct back links to that page...google will find out sooner or later..

Thanks for the replies but these are tactics I have used before. After doing some research it seems like the only sure-fire way is to create a google +1 profile and use the rel="author".

But this forces you push their desperate social agenda forward which I won't do. They have already screwed up search trying to become another Facebook.

So it turns out that if you want to use rel="author" you have to let google know about ALL your sites and the only way to have a diff. author for each of your sites, you need to create another profile.

I learned the hard way that letting them know about all the sites I own through WMT can only be a bad thing. They use it to knock down all your sites if they find just one they don't like for whatever reason.

"Don't Be Evil" I can't get enough of this motto of theirs, as if there wasn't enough B.S. in politics...
