This is a domain I've owned for a while and never done anything with.

Honest opinions please.

Should I drop it or get my a$#e into gear and do something with it.

Cheers

Brett.

Is dieting and weight-loss a particular niche that you have a passion for? The weight-loss market is very competitive and while your domain has a good keyword "diets", the only person I know of that has branded his sites with "DOTCOM.com" endings is Mike Filsaime (MARKETINGDOTCOM.com, AFFILIATEDOTCOM.com, PAYDOTCOM.com, and so forth). So, I doubt you'd get any type-in traffic.

If you're going to put effort into developing the site, you'll need to figure out what makes your site different than the many others that are out there.

    Best of luck,

      Hey Buzz,

      I appreciate your honest opinion.

You are right. That's where I originally got the idea from all those years ago.

Seemed like a good thing at the time.

I would honestly love to build it out though with quality articles/reviews of diets etc.

In reality that would be nearly impossible. I'm pretty time poor as it is.

My wife would "do her nut" if I gave this the time it needed.

      Cheers

      Brett.

    Hey Paramvir,

    Thank-you also for your input.

I must admit that I do still like the domain deep down.

I know it's a bit "corny" but hey, so am I.

    Thanks

    Brett.

Not a bad domain name, but it'll be really difficult to make anything of your site if you don't have a lot of time to invest in it -- as buzzaddict noted, the diet/weight loss niche is very competitive.

I don't care much for domains with dotcom.com. If I couldn't build a decent site on it, I'd let it go.

    Well,

It looks like the masses are speaking.

Thanks all for confirming my thoughts.

Hey Brett - My initial response would have been "get your a$#e into gear and do something with it". The main domain name is pretty good in my opinion and although it's a competitive niche, there's lots of potential if you have the time to spend on it.

However, if you can't find the time to spend on it then I'd say drop it. I can't see it working unless you invest at least a few hours into it each week.

How much time could you realistically spend on it each week? Is outsourcing an option? If you had your plans for the site all set out and you could find some good content writers, SEO experts etc, to hire and do the actual work on the site, then you could maybe have the best of both worlds by getting the site off the ground and keeping the wife happy.

This would of course involve you spending money on the site and would still require a few hours each week to review the work of the people you hire, track your website's performance against targets etc but it would be a lot less time intensive than doing everything yourself.

    Tom
