I want to hire a really talented writer to take my words, an descriptions and capture them for use on my website. Would I just hire a regular article writer? Or hire a different type of person? Anyon know? Where can I hire such a person?

Thanks

Look in the Warrior for Hire section of this site for some really great writers. You should be able to find someone there to hire. They also have great reviews that you can look at to decide if you want to hire them.

thank you kindly, I am looking now, but my big question is will a writer work with me in the way that I feel is needed? I want to chat via phon or something, explain my business, and then have the writer write it all out for me.

I think the warriors for hire is the best place. If a writer is serious about working with you then they will provide you with contact details. I personally always use Skype.
If you dont see anyone on here that takes your fancy then check out odesk.com i use them a lot too.

Since no one else wanted to directly answer it...

I'd guarantee a healthy majority would take you up on the offer, as they are just looking for work period. Would they be able to do it and give you the quality you require? That is another issue altogether.

Obviously, you are going to need someone well versed in the same language as you (I'm assuming English). Going from just being able to write in a language to being able to speak and converse in a language is a conversion that many can't make one way or the other. So do your homework in that regard.

Next, you are going to need a writer who is more readily available to you. The writer gets a benefit in that you will be providing verbally what you need written. The difference is that this "research" will be dependent on talking with you. Make sure that whoever you hire fits your schedule.

I think a final thing you need to nail down is method of communication. Is it going to be over the phone...or that "something else"? Personally I'd recommend video calls over Skype. To really get the message they should be given the chance to pick up on visual cues from you as well.

I believe the other posters are correct in stating that here in the WFH section would probably be the best place to look for a writer that suits your needs. Just make sure to interview with the above three points in mind. Stated again simply:

      1. Easy to converse with in your language/dialect.

      2. A writer who can tailor their schedule to match yours.

      3. Someone who can meet up with you over a video call.

This of course is on top of all the normal things you should be looking for in a quality writer.

Best of luck in your search!

Adding to these tips Joe laid out, which is a great place to start; it is not unusual to speak with clients on the phone or on Skype. I have clients that I have worked with for over six years and we talk often on the phone. It is the one way you can really communicate your thoughts and have a clear view of a project. Since, this project is something you feel strongly about, I do not think you will get the personal attention required at freelance sites.

There are certainly different qualities of writers, including non native English speaker content "re-writers" who create search engine fodder. You may want some with experience in writing ad copy to set the tone of your site identity. (someone who writes better than me)

I hear those writing sales pages for mega seller products are paid thousands.

You could browse through the resumes of the higher priced writers on freelance marketplaces like Odesk, Elance and perhaps known for cheaper projects and workers Freelancer.com these sites often want all communication to be done through the site, but it's common to exchange Skype numbers for emergencies.

Oooh I almost forgot! Ive been using writers4hire too they have been really good.
Webapex has pretty much hit the nail on the head there.
Dont be afraid to ask as many questions as possible, ask to see some previous work and when you do hire them make sure they stick to the deadline you agree on. If they dont then i would take my business elsewhere.

You should check the warriors for hire section here in the WF forum like others have mentioned. Also, check out outsourcing websites such as oDesk and eLance.

I have personally experienced great success hiring writers from oDesk that work for a very favorable wage - you just have to make sure you hire the right person and it may take you some time to find that person.

Read this article about how to find writers on odesk if you decide to go this route: How To Hire Article Writers On oDesk

It sounds like what you're looking for is a web copywriter; someone who offers the service of writing web page content.

There are some great ones on oDesk. oDesk is helpful in that it allows you to filter the contractors by things like price and location. Just keep in mind that higher priced writers aren't necessarily the best - you need to look through some portfolio pieces and testimonials before finding the best writer for you.

Like others have said in this thread, take a good look around the Warrior For Hire section too. I don't find it as effective for searching through, but it's definitely worth just going through as many of the active writing service threads as you can possibly find.

    Best of luck!

ashley, I have done copy in the past. I am not looking for a sales pitch.. I am looking for a friendly person that can clearly explain things to a members area. The tone is towards women, MOMS to be exact. Thanks though. I am looking into my options.

The Warriors for Hire section or Elance would be good places to check out.

Any experienced ghost writers should be well versed in taking your verbal information and putting it into writing for you

A good way to operate is:

1 - Have a Skype catch up with your writer to discuss what is needed. Make sure that you then follow up (or have them follow up) with an email that details what has been agreed to.

2 - If possible have your writer use an audio capture program for your discussions (eg. Pamela for Skype) so that they can easily go back over anything they have trouble remembering, without you having to arrange another meeting.

3 - As you think of other things you may want, make sure to record them using your mobile phone or other audio recorder. You can then provide that to your writer to work with

With this type of work planning is everything. Spend a bit of extra time at first making sure you are both on the same page about what you need.

      Good luck

I have found many good writer from warriors for hire section, but it will take some trial and error before you find someone that would write you quality articles and are easy to work with. Just read the feedbacks and if feedback looks promising order few articles and then go from there.

I personally prefer to hire freelancers at Odesk.com, Guru.com or Freelancer.com.

There are a few freelancers who are dedicated to complete their task. I normally get updates from them through Skype or email =)

But then again, there will be so many freelancers bidding for your project. Don't be fooled by their "wonderful portfolio" or feedback given. Most of the time, when they complete a job, they "force" you to give them 5 stars rating and good comments. That is how they get good feedback...some are "fake" in a way.

    All the best!

I think the best place to hire freelancers is on any major freelancing marketplace, mainly because there is a strong sense of accountability. Not only do all major freelancing marketplaces have escrow systems, they also have rating systems which serve, not only as a means to gauge the competency of a particular writer, but also as a motivation for the worker to provide quality work.

I would definitely suggest you check out vWorker.com: How work gets done. Guaranteed! , they have some very talented writers. Good luck!
