Let's talk website conversions and tracking

Hey guys,

I see so many people talk about tracking
and conversion it seems everyone s getting
paranoid about it.

Anyway I was just over at one of my sites
and logged into the backend something I
haven't done in over 6 weeks.

What I notice is that one of my products
is still converting over 4.50% and I'm not
sending much traffic to it but a few partners
are sending a steady stream of visitors...

The question is what do you guys track on your
websites or salespages?

I know some people say headline, audio, video,
what else can we add to this list?

This is where you start using a multi variable tracker to improve your converstions and understand what is working.

Your 4.5% conversion is not a bad conversion, in my opinion I would step up the traffic since you have something that is selling.

    Scale it up.

Guys, thanks for the reply awesome I would love
to get your response or results if you have tested
or in the process of testing all the different elements.

Yeah 4%+ is good I have 2 salespage with one difference
the headline as I said one is converting at 4%+ and the
other is at 3.60% which isn't bad either.

What your guys test results and what you test?

        David,

Your test results will depend on a lot of factors like the niche, how targeted is the traffic, the offer, and much more.

What works well in one niche might not in others. For example, in my testing I've found that putting the salutation "From The Desk of" on the left side converts better in the IM niche. Other non-IM niches, I found the opposite results.

I would definitely test your headlines, your offer, your sig file, and your page background. Those are some of the biggest areas to jump conversion with headline and offer being the top 2.

As for testing, I use my own multi-variate testing tool Easy Multi Tracking. If you get into talking about what features you need in testing tool... well, that's a whole different thread to start.

        Take care,

        Mike

          Hey Mike,

I did that with my headline colors one was maroon and
the other navy blue but if I really wanted to test it fully
I would have to create 2 more salespages and let it rotate
          between them..

But this little test told me that color does play an important
part in your headline and the red most of us like to use isn't
all that strong to other colors.

    Hi David,

Do you mean what do we test? If so I have a list that is based on a lot of research:
    • Headlines
    • Opening Paragraph
    • Layout
    • Copy
    • Call to Action
    • Testimonials
    • Trust Symbols
A whole book could be written on each items in the list above.
