Do you know HTML or CSS? Also, what's your business plan for the site? Have you planned out how you will market it?

no I do not know either. I would like to market it using forums, youtube, and twitter.
I really would like to just promote a clickbank product.

I don't recommend going with GoDaddy. I used them for over a year now, and have transfered all my domains to inmotionhosting.com because of their ridiculous marketing strategies and absolutely worthless support.

If you don't need ANY helpful support, Go with Daddy ^^
If you want support that simply ROCKS, go with inmotionhosting.com

Also... you don't need their website tonight... I would first think about what exactly you want to sell, and how to do it.

If you are like most people who just start out... get a mentor, or something you can follow step by step.

IF you are absolutely serious about your approach to build a business online, I can mentor you for free. I would do this because of two reasons: First I love to help others, second I need to get experience in teaching, because I'm working on my own "IM class".

I can pm you my email if you are interested.

      best regards,
      Mike

If he knew what he was talking about, he would have posted: domain registering.

Although, quite a number of members would advise you to run as far as you can from godaddy...

If you have any plans to use Wordpress .. Godaddy will have you wanting to go lie down in traffic.

Try hostgator, try namecheap, try anyone but godaddy.

The first thing you will want to do is make sure what it is that you want to market. If you're not sure what niche you want to market - you will need to find a profitable niche before doing anything.

If you want to go with a Clickbank product to market, you will need to do some research to find out if the product is profitable enough for you to market it in the first place.

If it is - you then need to get a domain name registered and then buy a hosting account. I highly recommend GoDaddy dot com for registering and HostGator for hosting.

You will then need to get an Autoresponder account so you can manage all your email correspondence with your list of subscribers and potential future customers. I recommend AWeber dot com for an autoresponder service.

You then need to create a compelling offer that you want to give away so you can start building your list. Once you have a list - you can then begin promoting related products (such as your Clickbank product) to your list.

You truly need to find someone who can show you exactly what to do and in what order to do it all in. Internet Marketing Academics dot com is a good place to start. They have a free membership at this time. I haven't heard anything negative about them so give it a go. You have nothing to lose because its free.

Getting started in this business requires that you know and understand that its all a systematic process and there are some basic web skills you will need to know. You can obtain that knowledge at the site I mentioned above.

BTW - I like your username - it sounds like you are serious and ready to take the plunge!

I can't stand Website Tonight. My office mate started his website using it because he has no knowledge of building websites and it is a nightmare. I'd like to get his site onto wordpress or even just export it to straight html but there's no way to do it. He'll just have to start the site from scratch...

There are ways to transfer sites away from Website Tonight - how many pages does your mate's site have?

And a friend of mine built a site with Website Tonight, and when he wanted my help making changes it was a nightmare. Website Tonight is a proprietary system.

You don't need a thourough knowledge of HTML to build a site. There is an excellent, free program called KompoZer and there are tutorials for it at YouTube and at thesitewizard(dot)com.

      Also there is Wordpress.

I have hosting accounts at three different companies, one of them is Godaddy, but since I don't use thier Website Tonight it's not a problem.

Others have mentioned Hostgator. That's a good choice, and so is Bluehost. Hostgator and Bluehost each use a control system called cPanel. It's fairly easy to do things there. Godaddy has it own proprietary control panel, and it's not as flexible, nor is it easy to work with.

You can do a lot better than that. Godaddy's hosting is the world's worst. Get a real host like Hostgator with cpanel. You'll be glad in the long run that you did.

It seems you just want a quick and easy way to build a website without having to deal with the technical stuff, so I would suggest Weebly or Wordpress. If you choose Wordpress DO NOT have it hosted by GoDaddy...you have been warned.

I might be too late, but if you haven't built your site yet then DO NOT use godaddy for hosting, they are horrible!

Use HostGator if you are on a budget or something like mediatemple if you aren't.

Hi there, my two cent's worth:
      1. don't use Godaddy (research online shows them to be unsuitable)
      2. don't use 'website tonight' (old school way of building a site)

I've been building websites for clients for years now, I've tried many hosting companies and many different website solutions including:
      - html & css
      - sitestudio
      - many content management systems (CMS)
      - many automated website builders.

I highly recommend you use a trustworthy hosting company with excellent 24 hr support like Hostgator, and then use Wordpress websites.

I've transferred all my clients' websites to Wordpress now for the benefit of the excellent plugins (additional functionality) including SEO, ease-of-use for my clients, excellent support for all the plugins and widgets.

If you have any quesitons, I'm happy to chat with you.

      Cheers, and best of luck

    What everyone said is right.

Stay away from godaddy hosting and maybe registering (although they have some good deals from time to time).

If you don't know how to build a website, go download wordpress, install it and put a theme on your site. Boom done.

GoDaddy is by far the worst hosting company I've ever come across. I use them for several domain names, but their hosting is incredibly slow!

Saying that you want to "sell products from ClickBank" is much the same as saying you want to compete with Wal*Mart.

ClickBank is a marketplace. There are good products and bad products there. Your first question should be WHAT you want to market, not WHERE you want to market "from."

Now, granted, CB does have products that cover virtually anything you'd be interested in marketing; but you should chose your niche (your audience, essentially) first, and THEN search for products to sell to that slice of the population.

I agree with Michael, you need a clear plan before you can do anything. By all means, add "buy hosting and domain" to the top of that plan, but don't do that before you've written a plan.

Websites don't go live overnight/ first make a firm plan that will work for you. Otherwise you are going to loose like me

  • As hosting company I never recommend Godaddy to my customers and friends.
That's why the hosting do not include many important things and lacks many basic settings. Try to build your website using a ready template in HTML, or better with Wordpress.

Use Godaddy only for domain names and I advise Hostgator as hosting company.
IF you need any help, send me a PM and I will help you to do the right steps.

    See you soon,

Godaddy is good for domain registration only. Use hostgator for hosting your website, and if you cant install wp yourself etc, just go and buy the whole thing with automattic - the creators of wp and get a domain with them.

My opinion is (like a lot of other opinions here), that you need to have a more detailed plan that "build a website" before you start making one.

While some people certainly do make money from ClickBank, it's notoriously hard for beginners to do so. AdSense is MUCH easier, so I advise starting with AdSense at first, then maybe once that has succeed and is profitable, try Amazon or something else. But definitely my advise would be to start with something simple and effective, like AdSense.

    Chris
(PS. See my Sig, for a complete package for starting AdSense profitably).

    Do not use godaddy products.

They stole my domains and there was nothing i could do about it.

Just giving you a heads up.

If you are going to take the time to learn how to build sites I wouldn't do it with them.

I would learn wordpress on a hosted platform.
