Are landing pages really so necessary for affiliate marketing? Isn't it better to directly link to the item your selling instead of getting people to go through a list of sites before actually finding the product?

I didn't know that tiny url's were allowed in sig files here.

But...to answer your question. A landing page is needed so you can capture that lead, turn them into YOUR lead, then sell them all the products they are willing to buy.

So yes, you do need a landing page for effective affiliate marketing. If you directly link to the product you have no way of capturing that lead.

    List building 101

    Later.

It sounds like all you plan on doing with that list is spamming someone. I don't like that idea. And if they don't allow tiny URL, I'll take it down if anyone knows for sure.

I feel you ttdub, but unfortunately selling and building lists can be double edged swords in some cases.

Ultimately you are the one who controls what you do with any list you build from any landing page you have. So if you don't want to send any follow-up offers, sell the list to someone else who might use it to sell, or even use it after the fact, you can make that call.

Why not build it with the landing page and if you don't want to spam folks, just don't every use the list.

        Hope that helps.

I must agree. Engage your prospects and build your leads.

Landing pages are essential if you want to promote affiliate programs in the search engines or through PPC. Many PPC networks used to allow direct linking back in the day but they don't anymore.

If you just want a sell - then no landing page required

However if you want to build an assett for the future then whyt not capture as many buyers as possible for next time

    Best of luck

That's my problem. You're talking about spamming. I don't want to do that, and I hate it when it happens to me. I buy a product, and then I get emails all the time about "similar products"

I don't believe anyone here is talking about SPAMMING people dude. That's NOT my position at all. I'm talking about capturing leads and selling to your prospects. Be it relationship marketing, soft sells and hard sells. I'm not into spamming.

Sorry man, but I'm not really sure what you're asking here. If you don't want to build a list and a business, and you're not really into selling (judging by your previous comments), then what do you want?

Happy marketing and best wishes to you and yours.

Landing pages are made to increase the chances of sales being made. That said, they are definitely important in affiliate marketing.
