Web Designers , XHTML, CSS , Graphics, Needed Resources

Hello ,
I am writing to ask if anyone with XHTML ,CSS experience knows of any great step by step videos, books etc on creating beautiful websites using CSS. I know there are tons and tons of books out there. However , are there any resources where the student is able to actually follow along while watching and participating in building a robust website from the ground up? Mostly everything I have seen is books teaching how to build a website by adding links , images, structure, design changes using CSS etc - However , I am having a difficult time locating an actual video / book where you learn while also putting everything together to have a finished website.

I would greatly appreciate any information that you can share.

Thank you,
Jason

    Hey Jason,

3 -4 Years ago when I first heard about CSS - I downloaded and watched:

CSS for Designers by Lynda Videos
CSS for Designers - lynda.com Online Training Library®

And it changed the way I use HTML forever! I haven't used a table since, so I highly recommended this video to show you how to take CSS and make it easy!

Bizarre! I was looking around for something exactly like this last week, I'll be sure to take a look Thanks!

Edit to notice that those videos aren't free! Are they worth paying for? many thanks.

Lynda's programming videos are definitely worth the money; they're very well explained and each one usually includes a fun project. I remember the couple PHP video series' that I watched they would take you from scratch and by the end you'd have a fully developed web app.

If you're looking to create truly bad ass and functional websites (not your typical mini-sites) then you'll probably want to research Javascript/XML/AJAX as well... and of course PHP if you're looking to develop web apps (like a content management system to go with your newly coded website!).
