CANNOT add a site to Analytics.

Analytics is perhaps Google's worst invention. No user-friendliness at all. Can anyone tell me how to add a site to my account? Do you have to create a profile for every URL? The instructions in Google Help are not valid and I couldn't find any other resources.

Click on Admin on the right side of the orange bar at the top. It will list your accounts. Most likely you only have one account, but you might have more especially if you manage accounts for other people.

In the list, click on your account. Then click on the "+ New Property" button.

I wouldn't use Google Analytics anyways...why give G even more information about yourself than it already gleans for free?

Your cPanel should catch a LOT more than GA catches, and if you're using WordPress, you can install tools like NewStatPress (free plugin) that will catch even more.

Yeah that's a good point J. Maybe I just won't add any more sites. I read that Analytics is the most detailed tracking service but how much detail do you really need? It's all about the big picture and $$.

HostGator's cPanel uses AWStats, which tracks so much more than Google it's not even funny. The best thing is that I'm not giving Google any add'l info that way.
