Anyone else run into this Aweber problem (customizing URLs)

Hey guys,

With Aweber, I use the personalization variables in my emails. I'm sure many of you also use them.

The new editor they launched is screwing things up.

When you want to embed {!firstname_fix}, or other variables that show up on a stand-alone basis, it's fine.

But if you use these within URLs, it is screwing up.

Example: Say you are capturing affiliate ID on a form so that you can send out emails with your affiliate's ID in the email.

You'd be using a custom variable like:

{!custom hop}.vendorID.hop.clickbank.net

Or say you wanted to have a link that embedded the date in it such as MyDomain.com?date={!date sd+0}

Well, this no longer works. At least not reliably! I've tested it in the new editor. Hit and miss, usually miss. The code does not translate into the proper text. Bad bad bad.

For now the old editor is around. But eventually Aweber will take it away.

Anyone else dealing with this problem?

    I posted this as a bug to the Aweber blog where they announced the new editor. There is someone responding regularly, so I think they'll notice. I also submitted a ticket to them, so I really hope they can fix it.

    Temporary workaround is to use the old editor. But man .. the new editor is so much nicer!
