Good & Cheap PC Headset?

I am looking for a good but inexpensive headset
for VoIP and recording some tutorials.

I'm looking at the Amazon.com: Cyber AcousticsStereo...Amazon.com: Cyber AcousticsStereo...
Any other suggestions?

Logitech ClearChat. Did a WSO and got some really good feedback on the poor audio quality i had on my vids and Mp3s.

One of the suggestions was the ClearChat by Logitech and it really made a difference. I rerecorded everything in the pack and all my customers seemed to be happy with the improvement.

Think the cost is only around $40, maybe less from an online store.

Garrie, I also have one by LogiTech that I really like. I think I paid $30 (maybe $40) for it at RadioShack a couple years ago. Unfortunately, I don't recall the name of this particular one, and I don't see anything on the headset besides the brand name.

Logitech is a pretty good brand; thank you for reminding me as I also need to get some of these.

  • They also had this one dub dub dub.amazon.blah/Universal-Stereo-Gaming-Headset-TM-YB100A/dp/B001FY7LBQ/ref=pd_cp_e_2

    Universal PC/Stereo Gaming Headset - Yapster TM-YB100A – Black"

it's $5 more than the one you're looking out, but has a better rating than even the Clear Chat set.
(that said, I do like the Logitech stuff, but it would be about three times more than the ones you picked.)

Yes I can recommend Logitech as well. I have this one Amazon.com: Logitech ClearChat Comfort/USB...Amazon.com: Logitech ClearChat Comfort/USB... (not an aff link) and it does a really good job for the price.
Plug and play and nice clear recording

You might want to check out a Turtle Beach headset. Don't let the fact that they are marketed to "gamers" throw you off. I bought an EarForce P11 and I am not only thrilled with the clarify of my sound (specifically music) but I am also extremely happy with the quality of audio that is captured through the mic. It is crystal clear, and even if there is background noise out the wazoo the mic isolates it and still brings you a beautiful recording.

There are some headsets that are meant strictly for console gaming, but TB also makes them for PCs and/or having PC adapters. It cost me about $60 for the head-set if I remember, but it was the best damn $60 I've ever spent. Love these things!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I went ahead and ordered the Yapster TM-YB100A. The demo the kid did sounded pretty good.

    Thanks again,

Worked out great for what I use it for. No regrets.

I've used those $10 cyber acoustics ones for years. I have NO complaints about them for the money. The first one lasted like 7 years before the cord started shorting from getting rolled over by my chair too much (would happen with anything I'm sure).

I use them for Skype and recording an occasional product when my studio mic isn't handy.

Decent sound quality, plug and play easy. I say go for it.

Edit - I see you already made your choice... sorry. I'll leave this up so others can benefit from the info..

If you want to see your options in the physical form just go to your local Best Buy, Radio Shack or Fryes. I still like seeing and being able to touch what I am buying.

Amazon has everything what you need. I've tried using Logitech. And yeah, Best Buy has awesome items too.

  • I know the OP has already bought a headset, but for anyone else who might be looking for one, about 6 months ago I bought a Logitech USB Headset A-00008 and paid about $40 or $50 IIRC. It's got comfortable soft padding for your ears and the microphone arm is hinged, so if you don't need to use it, or want it out of your way (ie: drinking a cup of coffee, eating, etc), you can fold it upwards. There's a volume control on the outer portion of the other ear - just tap the ring upward to increase the volume or tap it down to lower the volume. There's also a switch that's supposed to optimize for conversations, gaming or music.

I bought this headset because I had to participate in about 40 hours of online conversations (mostly listening, some speaking). I never heard anyone complain about sound quality, and I liked how it sounded. Much better than the old, cheap RCA cable Cyber Accoustics headset it replaced. But I keep it as a spare just in case.
